I want a set of bundts for winter so I can ditch my ugly W124 wheels that are a pita to fit with the -49 offset and the fact that they require at LEAST 55mm of thread on the lug bolts
Amazing weather around here lately, but I've also started my class in diesel mechanics, which means I get up at 6AM and get home at 11PM. I'm constantly tired, but it's for a good causeI get ALL the questions about my car at school, which is nice and redundant at the same time. ....
Ok I'll shut up and just post some pictures :
That's my buddy's early mk1 'rocco, and there are more pictures where those two came from, I just haven't had the time to edit any. I'm sure there are a couple nice ones in my camera somewhereOne of our friends joined us later that evening with his E21 to continue the little shoot we had going on.
Soon, fellow stancepeople, soon...

I like it a lot.
Onto more pics I had time to edit on the weekend!
And I think we all like cool cars in pics here, so here are a few of my buddies' rides I shot at the same time :
As for news, nothing new really. I'm super busy with work and class, and the weekends I like to sleep some. But I did have 2 lug bolts break on my rear passenger wheel, which were a pita to extract, and found out that same wheel has a slow leak. Both the rear tires are worn down to the rope anyway, so I'm keeping an eye out for some replacements.
I also want to find a set of extra coilsprings for winter, so if anyone has any they are willing to give/sell me, I would be eternally grateful!

So I am hopefully picking up an 85 300D tomorrow. Trading my 78 Rabbit for her. But it has that 4X4 look going on. I love your build and this has been the inspiration for my searching for a W123... I was just wondering what was the final set up for the rear suspension. The front was 2.5 coils but haven't figured out the rear? And there are only cups in the rear correct? This will definitely be the first order of things when I bring her home and any help would be greatly appreciated. I am absolutely in love with your car, it is amazing...

Taking out the rear coilsprings involves removing the rear seat completely (which takes about 5 minutes when you're used to it), but you might want to have a buddy around to stick it back in, as it's a tight fit. Behind the insulation you'll find the access holes to the tops of the shocks behind 2 plastic covers. Ratcheting spanners will be your friend here, but it's not a big deal without. Remove the top nuts so the shocks are only attached by the bottom. At this stage, jack up the car as high as you can so the suspension goes to max travel, remove the 2 bolts that hold the shock at the bottom and slide it out, and that gives you the room for the spring compressor! Do ""NOT"" use a regular spring compressor on these springs, it will blow up in your face, get one of these to do the job. A bit expensive, but it'll be your best friend as long as you have the car.
And I'd start cutting only half loops off the coilsprings at first, letting the suspension settle for a few miles before chopping more off. There are a few different springs lengths and rigidities for the same chassis, so you might have a different setup than mine. Take your time and figure out the right amount for you. Took me probably 3 weeks to find out where I wanted it to sit in the end.
If you've got any more questions, feel free to PM me, but I don't log in to S|W much during the winter, it's depressing to see all the great looking cars while driving my calcium-covered 4x4 on ugly wheels.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply man! I brought the Benz home the other day. So far it is pretty much awesome... A little ratty but that's what I like. I found a few different styles of those compressors. Mainly I am an Amazon whore so I looked around on there. I'm pretty sure the ones you had a link to are like 160 bucks or so. Not too bad and I don't want to die trying to drop my car so I will pick a set up. I just didn't know if there was a difference because there are some that look pretty much the same but are like a hundred bucks more and shipping is way more... Anyway, I think that the throttle linkages are definitely needing some adjusting. You seriously have to try and push the accelerator through the floor board to get going. Ones it's rolling it's not as big a deal but from a stop it is ridiculous... Again, amazing car and thank you for the help. Here is a link to those compressors if anyone has any input???
