  • Too many projects, but mainly an e28

Hello fellow members, Not really new to the scene but have mainly Just been a lurker here. I currently own a Bagged Scion xB, '82 e21, and recently purchased an '85 e28. I Love my xB and have always had a love for old BMW's. I will post a few pictures of all that I have here but this will mainly be my thread for my newly acquired e28. Thanks for checking everything out! Now on to the media......
Kyler's xB brings a new meaning to CLEAN.

(yeah, I know, cut springs and xxr's. But I still like it. ) And only has an original 90,000 on the clock!

And now onto the new ride. I actually purchased this one because I had someone offer me a decent amount for my e21 and was FOR SURE going to buy it.... Well, we all know how that goes. So Now I'm stuck with two old bimmers. for now.

The day I got it. Drove it 250 Miles home without an ounce of trouble.

I'm a pretty picky guy so I started gutting it and cleaning the interior, re-spraying trim pieces and grille, buffing the shit out of the neglected paint, peeling the horrible tint (not sure if factory?) and making a list of all the things I want to replace. So far I have ordered new roundels, kidney grille, a new intake hose, and it was missing the passenger's c-pillar vent cover so I had to track one of those down as well.

A little elbow grease with a scrub brush, some carpet cleaner and a shop-vac, and the interior looks and smells a TON better I just wish it had the OG head unit in it still. The new stuff in these cars just kills it for me.

After taking the pictures, I went to pull it back in the garage and found out that my fuel pump relay somehow went bad from the time I got until now.... Luckily I have a friend working at the local O'reilly and scooped a new one up for a whopping $12. Also grabbed a new fuel filter for good measure. I still need to do an oil change, etc to make sure she's in good working order before I start driving it everywhere. Stay tuned for more updates soon! Can't wait to get this one on the ground.

Thank you! it may be sold this weekend, It'll be a sad day but I need to tell myself you can't keep em all, and I really don't want to add another car to my insurance.... and those new wheels will look so good on the xB when I get the money

Thanks Alex, I love your e28. Before I got mine I was going through a ton of build threads still undecided whether to get it or not. And every time I looked at your build I wanted one even more hahaha. I just hope mine ends up having as much character as yours does.

Most definitely! Got the seats back in it last night, and supposedly my grille and roundels will be here today, as well as two of my wheels... (two had to come from a further warehouse.) Spacers should be here tomorrow too. And then I'll start on the idea I ran past you on the wheels this weekend. Hopefully it turns out well.... If anything it'll be original Still have to get the vin inspection done before I can register it. At least I have the title unlike the hell I had to go through on the e21!

YES! So I was looking at the seam sealer on this thing... dafuq did they use? Seriously don't think it's coming off before I have you do the fender rolling. Not sure what to do there....

Maybe someone that has rolled one of these can chime in. On the MK3 Golf I rolled, it had the same stuff. I tried to cut the stuff out with a sharp box cutter, but that proved to be a lot of work. I then proceded to use a burly drill with wire wheel attachment. If you can get all that gunk cleaned out well with the wire wheel and hit it with some POR15, you'll be golden and prevent rust.

Yeah I'm not sure what it is, but it's THICK. I tried getting under it with a flathead and it just flexed

Anyways... More updates today. Nothing too huge but sometimes the smaller stuff is fun to read about too Since I am currently in the middle of the task of cleaning up all the faded trim, mirrors, those rubber bumper cover things, etc. I had to make a trip to the local parts store to grab my third can of "bumper paint".....and what says "I care about my old car" like some black ice trees!? Second best air freshener next to jdm squash. But I have to order another air spencer first.

Then I stepped in from the garage and look what was waiting for me.... My pup Harley and some new BMW goodies!

Got my new Kidney grille in, roundels, intake hose, and those plastic screws that hold the grille on that were all dried out and broke. I still can't decide if I want to black the grille out or not yet.

The second bigger box ended up being two of my wheels. I really don't want to say what they are yet before I get them "finished" how I want. No they're nothing baller... but I love the look of them and they'll treat me good throughout the winter without having to worry a lot about them. So I have a question for those of you watching. I already have plans for the lips of the wheels.... but what color do you think the faces will look good in? I'm really just stuck on black or maybe an off-white. Any other suggestions are welcome as well.
Now onto the small progress I made today. I **** how early it gets dark now, I feel so limited on time after work

Out with the old, in with the new!

I ain't about that duct tape life. That hose had to go.

Before I could throw the new Kidneys on, I had to finish cleaning these up and spraying them. The screws to hold these on are at the most ridiculous angles! Once they are dry tomorrow the front end should look complete again

Then I finally got the rear covers pulled off so I can prep and spray them tomorrow. As well as drill this thing out and tuck it back where it belongs.Would've started tonight, but the fronts were occupying my spray bench.

Also had to grab a shot of my interior with the seats in for the helluvit

That's all for tonight. I should be seeing the rest of my wheels and a couple more things by the end of the week, so stay tuned! Also don't forget to give me your input on a wheel color that goes good against the bronzit.
