After a series of unfortunate events, cabby progress has not happened in a long time. Issues with the engine and with money and time have slowed things down. But heres what's been going on in the two years since I last posted an update.

Received and promptly got rid of an 84 380sl

The e34 was sold about a year after the last post

Bought an 89 Accord Lxi to make it through last winter, which was scrapped after the exhaust fell off and the engine started knocking.

Got an 87 325is which is my current daily/giant money pit.

    FH020020

And I picked up an 82 Yamaha XS 400 Heritage Special to have fun with

    As for the cabby...

I rattle canned the bay black and cut out the rain try so the carbs would fit. Thinking about it now i should have only cut out the section of tray where the carbs were but it's too late now.

Bought another 8v for $50 and put it in along with the new clutch

    FH020016

I had a friend use a vice grip on my steering column spline to move my car, so that now needs to be replaced. Also the headers don't fit under the car, so they will have to be bent some more. The bushing for the clutch cable was very poorly welded in and fell out, so it will have to be re-welded. The msd box will have to be wired in along with the new coil. The steering rack has to be plugged. And basically everything else has to happen for an engine to run.

I'll be tackling everything a little at a time, so hopefully at some point this summer I can at least drive it again because it's been too long.

Cool, thanks a lot. You won't be dissapointed with the idle, I have 276 in my mk2 and that is quite lumpy so a 288 would be nuts!

Hey guys, sorry it took a while to update, didn't get to do as much as i wanted to do over break, but im going to try and do as much as i can even though im at school now...

Anyways, this is how i left the garage more or less

    The block looking crusty...

Tried to clean the head as best i could with the parts washer at work...

    Before:

    After:

In other news, i got a free welder from my boss, the only problem is that a lot of the inside plastic stuff got melted because he set oven at the wrong temp while trying to bake the water out of it from hurricane sandy... Anyway, doesn't look too bad, i think its save able.

Well, fast forward to now, since i dont have anywhere to work on my car at school, i decided to build my head in my dorm...

and this brings us to the next 2 problems

1 is i have to get theses damn studs out, which shouldn't be that bad, and 2 is i have to find a valve spring compressor to get these valves out, and i need the big c clamp looking one... but i might know a teacher here that will help me so that should work out nicely

And once the valves are out, all i will have to do is polish up the intake and exhaust ports, lap the valve seats, and put her back together with the new parts

oh and here is a couple of comparison photos of the cams, the old one is on the right

Thats all i got for now, thanks for looking

    moar updates

Friday was quite the busy day in the life of the cabby...

First we dropped the trans to make pulling the motor easier... no pictures of that though

And then we got with the pulling... so ill let the pictures do the talking

Hmm, seems like a failed attempt at exhaust leak sealing...

Had to have a standing in the engine bay pic

    Stupid a/c stuff...

lots of labeling going on... better to have too many than not enough

how the bay looked at the end of the day

Engine on its stand along with the trans, ready to start cleaning

Lots more to do, so more updates in the very near future

I'm going to rebuild the 8v and switch to carbs instead of dealing with CIS, and then shaving the bay
