Haha, yeah I make a point of it now to shine a light under the car before I work on it, just in case.

The wheel situation isn't looking too great at this point. On the hunt for some suitable back ups since I also changed my mind about the black wheels. Think I want to step them up from 16" to 18" for a better tire selection, which will require custom spun barrels and lips, so they more than likely won't make it to SoWo. Oh well.

        • Little bit of an update:

So ODB hasn't had a drivers side knee bolster in about 3 or so years. The old one was cut up to fit the management to, but it never worked out. Finally managed to score what has been a bit of a unicorn to me, a lotus white bolster in decent shape.

Of course, that's not what this update is about, really. Around the end of February, I began to realize that the planned 16" wheels weren't going to happen in time for SoWo. So, I started looking for a set of back up wheels. Nothing really looked that appealing to me, until I stumbled upon a set of wheels in Vegas that were a killer deal. Big thanks to Eddie36 for one of the smoothest transactions I've ever had with this build.

A set of 17x8.5", et 13 RFs in absolutely perfect shape. I knew that size would be a little small for ODB, but I decided to mock them up just to see.

Ok, so not the best fitment in the world, but there was potential. I discussed my options at length with a few friends, and initially decided to keep them 17" and widen them out with 4" and 5" lips like the Equips. Then I did a little research and figured out for a little extra, I could make them 18." So with the help of my friend Mark, I sourced a set of 3.5" lips (the widest size currently available) and 6" and 7" barrels. Or at least, that's what I wanted, but apparently the manufacturer was out of 18X6" barrels, so Mark hooked me up with 6.5" ones instead. Which I hadn't measured for. Needless to say, the front fit was a little...snug.

A lot snug. That's with a 5mm spacer. The fabricator that had built the bags didn't do the most accurate job of it, so the left front hit. Hard. A set of 10mm front and 12mm rear spacers were ordered from Motorsport Hardware, along with a stud conversion kit. Mainly because fuck lug bolts.

While all of that was coming together, I assembled the new wheels and Mark shot a few photos.

Pretty sure we could get that one into the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Maybe.

Anyway, got the studs and spacers on the car, wrapped the new wheels in 245/35 and 255/35 Hankooks, and this is what I got.

18x10.5, 18x11. Not sure what the offsets are now. These came together in roughly a month, and I don't know that I could be any happier.

Now to save my money for the drive to SoWo.

Thanks guys! I'm super happy with em. Took the car out to Long Beach last night for a shake down run. The new suspension bits feel great, though I do still need to do the rear subframe bushings at some point as they make noise. Really, really want to go with Airlift V2 management and fix the a/c before I leave for SoWo. The car was converted to R134 before I bought it, but I believe the compressor clutch locked up. I have a remanufactured compressor, so hopefully throwing that in and recharging the system will do the trick.

Still have to address a few things in the remaining weeks before I leave for SoWo, but at least now I'm starting to see a bit of light at the end of what has been quite a long tunnel.
