  • Yet another E30? Sloow..

Hi everyone, my name is Max, i live in Lithuania.
I've been reading Stanceworks for the last few months, and thought that maybe i should post my own build thread here..
This build thread is going to be really slow, mostly because im a student, I dont really have money to do something that requires a lot of money, and also because i can sometimes be really lazy..

So lets start, since i turned 18 and got my drivers licence, i wanted to get myself a car.
There wasn't much of a choise, i wanted a E30, even thought they were "old" and "unsafe" as my mom told me..
She wanted me to get something newer, like a '94 Civic..
Was strange hearing that from her, because she had a E30 5years ago, which had so much rust it just started falling apart..
But o well, shes on E46 now, dont like it

So never mind, after a lot of searches i got what i wanted, a 1988 318i. First car..
It actually came here from Germany, and was standing in a garage for about a year before i got her..
    Wasnt being driven..
Had only one owner in Germany..
And only 193k km on it, was in good shape, exept some rust over the rear fenders..
But i wanted to fix all that myself..
Heres some photos of how i got it:

Thats all for today, will try and find the photos tomorow, i know that flash drive is somewhere here..
Hope you like how she was, will post you how she is now, what i've already done to her, and what she needs
    Cheers~

Ok, so lets start reproducing what happened to it..

Well the day i got her was all spent registering her, that was somewhere in the end of December.
And finaly, right before the service was closing we got her on a check.
Heres a photo when we just got there, it was already dark..

Yeah.. It's 318.. The number is 316, owell..

So while the service man was checking the suspension, i crawled under the car to see if there was any rust.
I was surprised there wasn't much of it..

Thats all, i was happy for that
The suspension also had no problems, only the rear right spring was 63%, all else was ok.
      That was a good day

Sorry for the crappy cellphone pics :x
      Cheers~

        Ok, so lets continue.
First i did after getting the car - i got rid of that damn front bumper.
Words cant describe how i didnt like it

Then i've opened my headlights and painted them black.
Also while doing that i installed angel eye LED rings in them.
        Looked kinda nice:

Those things are bright, id say much brighter than the CCFL ones.

As you can see, they are easy seen in daylight.

After that, i cracked the oil pan

Damn that a big piece missing..
So found a guy who welded it back to normal, just because i couldnt find a scrapyard one..

Heres a few last photos before we started taring it apart and fixing it:

        Sorry for the dirt

        So then, BAM:

My friend doing the fenders while i was taking of the interior out

After that it went to a welder, who welded the right rear arch, botch of the skirts, and also those front holes with sink holes in the back.
        Almost leak-free.
Just a little one in the windskreen wiper area. Still gotta do that..

So this leaves me with how it looks now:

Today i gave the front bumper to a welder, will fix some rust spots, should get that tomorow, will have to grind it down and paint it soon i think..
        So until then
        Cheers~

Ok, so theres a few updates, but no pics

The front valance got welded, and then we bondo'ed, sanded, painted it.
It's already installed and looks ok

Back arches got bondo'ed, primer'ed, painted, looks just as new
And the back bumper got installed also.

Now just gotta finish the front plastic bumper, has a little crack on a side, and install the front high-beam headlights, and on the outside its ready

Oh, also deleted the old rear licence plate lights, since at the part where their plastic goes in contact with metal it started to rust.
Just removed the rust and fiberglassed all of it. Made new lights with a simple yellow led strip. Didnt like the white one

Hopefully will post some pictures soon as i get a camera

Actually i installed those when i didnt know about the stance scene..
Now i actually regret doing it, because those are really poor quality. I should have gone for HID's since they look much better with the blacked out headlights..
And i was thinking of getting rid of the M badge

So yesterday while going home my mirror's glass fell off and shattered
**** how the glass is atached to dem mirrors
So went to nearest pull and take junkyard today and got myself a mirror from an E36, it's the same just ataches better, you dont need to rotate the ring under the mirror, its just clip-on. And even better, i got it for free
