Also, my truck is broken and I want to hit the river with my 1988 650sx after work, so let's give this a shot. not sure if anyone ever noticed the sneaky little hitch I've had hidden on this thing.
My steering rack has been shot for most of this year. Fortunately it's a manual rack so it wasn't leaking or anything, just made the car walk around on uneven roads.
Took me about 3 hours to pull it, and a trip to Harbor Freight to buy an inner tierod tool. Everything I read online said I would need to drop the subframe but I was able to sneak it right out the bottom behind the passenger axle.
Yesterday I decided to get a little weird after doing some pre-H2O maintenance on my car (front wheel bearings & fuel filter). I grabbed one of those LED brake light/hitch cover jawns from Harbor Freight and modified it to fit my 1¼" receiver. Originally the plan was just to buy a nice plastic cover for it but I figured I might as well have some fun with it. I may also wire it to function as a euro rear fog.
I had an awesome time at H2O seeing all the SW boys, various friends from all over, and meeting some new people!
My buddy Curtis snapped this shot of the coupe while we were hangin all day on that rainy Thursday.
The final show of the year for me will be Dubs in the Trees here in CT. It's always my favorite way to close out the season with some all day grilling and beers in a local state park. If you're in the New England area come thru and say hi!
Finished off the season with one last show, which is always a personal favorite of mine, Dubs in the Trees. In its 8th year, this has come to be the best season ender simply because it's such a chill day. It's more of a meet than a show, lots of friends get together at the People's State Forest up in the mountains in Connecticut and grill/drink beers all day. Great time as always.
Over the winter I have a few plans for fitting some little unique body mods to the car, including redoing a spare trunk I have on the shelf to host a pretty wild spoiler that nobody has seen anywhere in years. I'll probably be keeping these wheels because I'm in love with them, but I do plan to get a fresh set of coilovers. I'll keep this thread posted as always.
I also wanted to spotlight my buddy Connor Mahoney's MK3 which is a car that has just recently come back from the dead after 5 years of sitting in his garage/loss of interest. It's cool to see one of your best friends regain motivation and come out and wow everyone again with a truly unique MK3. Previously the car had a feature titled "Epic Win" in PVW about 5 years ago. It's got a ton of custom bodywork, 24v swapped, shaved bay, and it was static on Image wheels. Now it's sporting a set of original HRE 454s, a nicely done air ride setup, a freshly redone bay, and a shaved trunk to match. Connor's car, to me, is the creme de la creme of MK3s and was a huge inspiration to building my car.
