I opened the repair manual once to check the torque specs, and everything else was just sort of autopilot. I took stuff apart and put it back together as a little kid. I remember taking my parents' answering machine apart when I was 5. They were pissed, so I just put it back together and plugged it back in. When you get down to it, everything is just made of parts that are held together by bolts or screws or clips. As long as you put it back the way it was, but with new parts, you're golden.

I really want to fully rebuild an engine at some point to gain experience.Join the dark side:The Boog Build Thread

There's nothing complicated about rebuilding an engine, for instance the Thursday before SOWO c-hutch and a few friends took the engine out of my car rebuilt and back in and was sittin at the hotel in Helen havin a coldber that friday night. Just don't be intimidated this forum is built around people who have the same expirences such as ripping apart answering machines so there's plenty of help!
Got the engine basically together today
New rear main
Painted the block
And here's the block with the head, chain and guides, and some other things being assembled. The timing cover was off to make sure I was in time, but it's on now. Should have it together as a complete long block tomorrow.

I bought a euro non-ac center console on ebay since I have removed the entire air conditioning system, only to find it in a kind of.... some-assembly-required condition
So I guess I'll see what I can make of that. It was only 30 bucks so I'm not too sad about it.
Got a few more things done on the motor too. Just a few brackets and stuff, but it's getting close. Going back with the K-jet for the time being. It will be simpler to just put everything back how it was than to convert the fuel system and everything. Plus I found the vacuum leak I had been looking for when I pulled the motor, so it should run right anyway.
