and it says you can't drink hot liquids out of it (what in the actual fuck?) so don't feel like injesting some coating, so will just let my car. Been meaning to replace the inadequately size Coke bottle anyways. Just thought you would like to know as I thought of you.

how does that work? is the overflow tank not pressurized? if so, how does it hold pressure with that hose in the cap?

Overflow tanks aren't pressurized. Expansion tanks, however do hold pressure, and would be set up differently. An overflow tank is just for catching excess coolant that is purged when the radiator cap sees a pressure high enough to let it open. It opens, relieves some coolant, and closes back up. That coolant is just leaked into the bottle. Then when the car cools back down and the cooling system pressure drops, it pulls a vacuum and sucks the coolant from the overflow back into the radiator. The hose goes through the cap and down to the bottom, where it is always submerged by at least a little bit of coolant to maintain the correct amount in the system whenever it needs some. The cap is actually vented so that pressure can be relieved when it fills and it won't pull a vacuum in the bottle when the system draws coolant back out of it.

The stock radiator didn't have an expansion tank, but it turns out the new one requires it. When it was getting up to temp, it would spit a little bit out of the fitting. So I made one. I think it looks pretty good in there.

I really like this, it's simple and effective. I may do something similar to my car.
