This is not really a build thread, but it also doesn't fit into the "showroom" category either - hence the title. I must emphasize that this is still a work in progress.
Started life as a regular old low mileage Mazda 3. No photos of stock, I'm sure most of you are familiar. I purchased Eibach Prokit springs for it about a month later, which kept me happy for about a year
Discovered plasti-dip shortly thereafter and had a little fit (I have since apologized to my car, and we have made amends)

I felt like I needed a change from the stock pignose grille. Picked up a new front lip, grille, and OEM GT spoiler for the hatch.

The grille was in rough shape, so I did a little custom blackout paint job that I'm really fond of.

Drove it like that through the winter... and at some point stumbled upon this site. The warmer spring weather brought a new vision for my car. I scoured JDM parts stores and Kijiji for wheels.
I wanted something classic, but unique. Always been a fan of BBS, but I felt like RS were a little "too old school" for a modern car. Happened upon these, fresh of the boat from Japan, and in absolutely terrible shape

Wheels are BBS RSII 023/024 - 17x8/9 ET +45 all around. Tires were way too meaty, so I gave them to a friend of mine for his MR2.
Mounted 215/45 Falken 912's

After debating whether or not to mount the front lip, I decided to throw it on.

Random shitty BlackBerry photo. Still 4x4 height with some silly looking mudflaps.

Winter came again, painted my stock wheels GM Bahama Blue. My mom loved it.

Since the wheels were in awful shape (previous owner liked to get up close and personal with curbs), I decided to attempt a refurb myself.
I started by cutting the wheels apart (They are 2pc, held together with titanium rivets)

8 Dremel cutting blades later, I decided to try an angle grinder. Worked A LOT better.

While I was working on the wheels, I picked up some lightly used KW V2 coilovers to get closer to the road. Rears are still at max height... front is all the way down. Odd setup

Finally finished sanding down the curb rash and repolishing the lips. It was a hell of a chore. I got the faces powdercoated pastel turquoise, which I regret

Here is how it sits today.

Before the end of July I hope to add 15-20mm spacers to the rear and 8mm up front, remove the helper spring on the front coils to allow me to drop it another 1.5", and wind the rears down. Will likely need smaller tires at some point as well.
Anyway... let me know what you think.
