I like to see how people do things, not how it turned out So I want to keep my build thread built off of that idea.

Just got back from my vacation from Mexico yesterday and I'm back to business.

Here are the photos I meant to put up right before I left. The wifi at the resort was awful so here are the pictures I promised.

^I used this to scrub out the paint that was in the indent of every bolt.
Before:

^I cleaned up the backs and sides of the nuts to get the crud off.

^I used a wire brush on a power drill to take the paint off.
Before and after comparison.

I have about 100+ bolts left to clean! Once I get them all done I'll put some Mother's on them to give them a shine.

I also started to sand down the faces last night too. So hopefully by next weekend I'll start painting everything. I'm shooting to be done in a week and a half from now.

^Not Sanded

^I started to scrub the baked on braking dust as well in the tiny crevices.
I have some other plans to get done on my car too this week, check back to see what's up!

I get what your saying, thanks for the info!Originally posted by Stupid Kid View PostI used a rubber door seal from autozone.
Looked like this but the bottom was flat (didn't have that little square on the bottom part)

I cut it lengthwise through the middle on only the flat bottom side, and then put it on so that the curved part of the door seal wrapped around the sharp edge. The adhesive on the bottom of the seal sticks to the wall of the trunk on both sides and holds it in place.
I totally butchered that and turned a simple concept into a bunch of incomprehensible nonsense but hopefully you can figure it out, it makes perfect sense once you buy the seal and go to do it

I got one more week in Mexico until I'm back to work on my car. The bass sounds a lot better when the trunk is open so I'm hoping it will sounds just as good when I take out the hatch. Do you know of any kind of rubber strip I can put on the edge to make it smooth?

I use a Canon t2i my dad gave me when he upgraded himself to a 60D.Originally posted by Bokeh View PostMetallic silver sounds good, I need to get a macro lens, but it's either I spend my money on my car or my camera. Car > camera
what camera do you shoot with? ( I would check the exif but I'm lazy

I have a e39 and I cut mine out (with a dremel!

The difference is night and day. I ran two 12" kenwoods for a while and have since upgraded to to sundown sa-12's, which are some serious ass subs. I have them firing at the back seat/ ski pass and I cant see shit of my rear view and can do hair tricks all day. rad.
Also props to a fellow beemer kid. I'm 19 and I've got two of them+ a parts car.
Feels good man.
Oh and as far as the wheels go I'd finish the centers in something close to the original grey/sliver. Can't go wrong with that.

I'll probably go with a metallic silver. I think white wheels looks better on the older generation Bimmers. I mainly like to use my 50mm lens, but for some close ups I have a 60mm macro lens, then I have an assortment of other lenses as well.Originally posted by CubbyChowder View PostI'm voting for either white or silver faces. Yeah there are always kids with better cars out there, I'm lucky enough that my dad bought my car for me too.

Thanks!Originally posted by Joshbm View Posthttp://www.ferretsdomain.co.uk/2011/...hatch-removal/
But obv take more time than he did, and like i said use a wider bit than the welds and it makes it easier to remove.
Im gracius that my parents spent $11K on my car. They just told me that they will not pay for any mods.Originally posted by MrDanguy View PostSo, how does a 17 year old get an e46?
Cool, nonetheless.
There are students at my high school that drive brand new Audi"s, Jags and Bimmers.
