Motor is gonna get a top end rebuild once the Camaro is sold. And other things will be installed, like exhaust, my brakes, and curtains.

Started tearing down the motor, need to replace a shit ton of gaskets and do the chain/guides. I found out what 32 years and 200k miles does to a motor.

I need some hex head sockets before I can go much further, so I'll be buying a set of those pretty soon.

Found out that this motor isn't original to the car. Makes me wonder if it had a AMG motor and somebody blew it or snagged it. Either way I'm too broke to fix it, its been siting for 3 months now. But, fortunately a old friend who has wanted my Camaro since I've owned it is willing to buy the car, so that means the Mercedes will get a new motor and will be back on the road within a month. You guys have no idea how much I miss driving this thing.

Both motor and trans are dead. I have a trans, but I can't afford to rebuild the motor just yet, trust me, I have dreams about driving it because its been sitting too long. I started a new, higher paying job so it'll get fixed soon. I have been working on my Camaro, there's a link to that thread if you are interested.Originally posted by Stance is a Dance. But seriously, as a W126 owner I wanna know what's happening with my car's more upscale brother.Last edited by RubbderDucky; 06-26-2013, 11:45 PM.

I know the feeling of wanting to drive it. Mine's in the shop. Bought it, drove it for two days, broke down, been down for two months. I bought it from a dealer, like to put a brick through her window. I have a 300SE myself, his name is Oskar. I'm trying to figure out if our colors are the same or a little different. Did you figure out what engine you had in there, if it wasn't the original.

Where'd you get your corner lenses?

Motor is a M117.961, the motor that should be in there, but the engine code is different from what was supposed to be in it. I ordered my corners off eBay. As for colors, mine is 173 Anthracite Grey Metallic.Originally posted by Stance is a Dance. View PostI know the feeling of wanting to drive it. Mine's in the shop. No its not. The original motor may have been, but I have no way to tell. I have 0 AMG paper work for it. Eventually it'll be treated to a AMG 5.4 and a 5 speed, but that's a ways away.Originally posted by rice4life View PostNo one is stopping you.
So that's a non amg motor in your 500se amg?

I've got like $2500 worth of parts sitting for it that were supposed to go on before the motor died. I miss this thing, its so damn fun. Nothing like a full size sedan sliding around a corner. LOLOriginally posted by Stance is a Dance. View PostI'll have to look when I go to visit it tomorrow as to its color.

I let my friend drive once (and only once) and we're at the end of a dirt cul de sac and he turns the wheel and guns it. One of those rare times where you get oversteer and understeer at the same time. It is kind of interesting, 15 feet of car sideways.
After I get it fixed I want bags and MAEs. Badly.

Try that in a Euro V8, more fun. Lol. I've got AMG suspension, and I'm as low as I want to go, AMG kit costs too much to replace to go any lower.Originally posted by Stance is a Dance.
