    • Congrats on the spread! Well deserved. Your attention to detail and keen eye for design turned out a well executed truck! Love how the fenders are coming along. What is the plan for wheels once the fenders are complete?

      • Right now it's going to have to be spacers. I'd love to get some 3 piece wheels eventually but that's not in the budget at the moment.

        • Finished the welds up for the transition between the flares and body kit as well as modified the mounts inside the wheel well. Then I mounted them up and going to rock the truck like this for a week or more to test the strength.

Already took it out for a spin and these hold strong at 50. Going to push the speed up tomorrow to and from work.

          I'm getting excited.

          • Damn those flares look great! Can't wait to see them paint matched. Also congrats on the feature!

            • i was never really a huge fan of the extreme kits on these, but the work youve done on the flares is awesome!

almost makes me miss my colly lol

              • Of course I can't just have one project going at a time.

I've had these for a while waiting to be installed. They are from a GTO. Going to have them wrapped something like this:

                style:

                color combo:

Depending on the fabrics, I might go a little lighter than this and possibly go for a more aged looking leather...

I don't want to bring any blue into the interior. I want something that works well with the exterior style and color, but not be the same. The wife put it perfectly, "You don't want to see the truck for what it is, then open it up and see something totally different."

But anyway, how about some rear seats from a GTO?

                  • Very cool retro-fit. Is that a common mod among those trucks? Or was it something you went out, measured and fit. Either way I can't wait to see the outcome. Color combo looks great!

                    • Mikey, people swap seats in these often. They usually go for an h3 since those are direct swaps. Others go with Grand Prix seats since those are pretty close to bolting up. A few before me have done GTO seats that I have seen. However, I'm talking only about the front seats above. I have seen a handful swap in a rear seat from an h3, we did this with a friends truck. I have yet to see anyone do this to a rear seat.

So, half is something others have done lol

                      • Alright, so I have made some progress the past couple days. The bracket is finished and in the truck. I had the seats sitting in there to mock them up but now it's pulled back out.

The second bracket is marked for the cuts and holes I have to drill. Really wish I had a drill press.

                        Anyway, onto the photos:

This is the mess I am dealing with:

And only two wires that power these new brackets: :th_woot:

                        Chop chop on the rails

                        and the test fit

Also, with some of the extra time I have had while sitting at work these past week or so, I have sketched up the design I have for the center console. It will be wrapped the same way as the seats...

                        • It's been a busy past couple days...

Pulled out the rest of the interior in the truck. Decided to dye my carpet instead of purchasing a new one. If it didn't work, no biggie. I would only be out about $5 versus the $200 to get a new one... I used Rit dye this time and boiled the water and powder on the stove in a pan. Then, dumped that pan into a bucket and did it again with another pan of water and box of dye. Added a little more hot water and went out and scrubbed the carpet with a stiff bristle brush. worked well but there were a few areas that didn't turn out well, so I dumped the mixture into a different spray bottle I have and that worked out well.

                          Half way done

                          Done

Had to touch up a few spots and let the rest dry out in the sun

And, since the carpet was out, I figured I would lay down some more of that cheap tar paper...

Then I decided that I could use that E-Dead liquid sound deadener I still had, if it was still good. Used it a couple years ago in my old truck and it's been sitting in my cabinet since then (as well as Paul's.) What do you know, it was just fine after I stirred it up. I also had a lot more than I had anticipated...

Used the last bit of that. I am undecided what I actually plan to to do with the doors in the long run. Might take it to a shop and have them install some audio stuff and deaden the doors and change up the panel a bit, but we will see.

And then lastly, I painted the inserts on the kick panels. Freakin things were beat to high hell so I used a hammer finish black paint and cleared it...

                            • This new interior is going to be so damn good.

                              *waits patiently*

                              • Waiting patiently is getting tough, especially since I know they are probably done with all the seats, just have the headliner, visors and the door panel inserts to finish.

And made a little more progress. Edead stuff was dry so I tossed the carpet and some of the panels back in the truck. Very happy with the turnout of the dye.
