there's a guy in the UK that did a megasquirt conversion on his jag -
For parts to stay old school

      To go efi:
      http://www.efihardware.com/products/...-litre-engines

But you can probably find a newer style jag that has a similar engine and get all the efi stuff from it

Hmmmm.....efi is neat and all, but I feel like something would be missing if you saw the engine and didn't see a trio of carbs.....and the headlight covers I am not so sure about. The half covers that are on it now actually make the car more aerodynamic then the full cover, and apparently there is a noticeable difference in speed and gas mileage. Not that this site is about aerodynamics, but the half covers look pretty neat in my opinion. and that vintage jag site has some great articles for pulling the motor and rebuilding it. I definitely have to order those this weekend. Start stocking up info and parts.

wow, this is so ironic because I was just thinking yesterday about how nice it would be to lower on of these and do it up! I was thinking for wheels watanabe R-types would always look sick on these cars but I understand how much those cost haha.

Good luck on the build! cant wait to see some more of this car!

interesting. when i seen the thread title i was a little scared someone had somehow gotten hold of one of these classics cheap and was about to ruin it, but after reading your top post i think its heading in the right direction. the problem with e-types (from my observation, not from experience or knowledge on them) is that the body style already sort of tucks the wheel, so if you go really low with it you might have trouble turning and not scrubbing/wrecking the guards (which would be BAD and not a cheap/easy fix). my vote is with you on the Daytons, and maybe go as small and wide as you can, like a 13"x9" or maybe 8's on the front. also i wouldn't do anything that's not 'undoable', incase you ever decide to sell and want to get a good price for it.

or just go crazy and cut and slam the shit out of it, that'd be epic too

also, never say never with engine swaps. a jag v12 with straight pipes would be sex on that there car...

Beautiful car, my dad had one back in the late 60's but a drop top. Sold it to a footballer and it was exported to NZ. Good luck with the build

My biggest dilemma right now is deciding if I want to do a full resto, or get it to the point where it is nice and driveable. The motor is definately gonna come out, and I obviously am going to throw all new suspension parts at it, but I feel like I should just go after the body as well. I mean, it is in excellent condition as it is, kept indoors and under a cover. Decisions, decisions....

if the outside is pretty mint, focus on the driving parts first then

this isn't a rush job, so take your time

then when lows and engine and stuff is on point, focus on bodywork

So I have been doing a little bit of research. And I have found some interesting information. Apparently there were just under 2000 Gen 1 1/2 hardtop e-types made, and 1565 were imported to the US. So there really aren't a lot of these tooling around nowadays. Also.....the IRS in this thing is unlike anything I have ever imagined. More so, even just the rear brakes. Don't believe me?

I am making plans this weekend when I go home to take measurements for fitment, and make a decent plan of attack for the summer.

Nice project, keen to see what you do with it. You should definitely have a look at the TV series "A Car Is Reborn" where Mark Evans restores an E Type from the ground up. The episodes are on Streetfire/Youtube but I'm sure there'd be torrents out there if you're that way inclined...
