    July 14, 2012 - Car Show Trip

All of this was just in time for a trip to Arkansas for a car show. Drove it down there, ran the A/C occasionally, overheated once. Got runner up in the import class, friend that I drove down with got first in his VW CC (which is uber sexy).

    (His CC on Rotiforms)

Rained on the way, made for a not so great turnout

Caught some bugs on the way...

    Crowd around the car

    Trophies

A small pull in a tunnel on the way back
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtZCjNrcrKI&feature=plcp&noredirect=1]Caleb Tunnel - YouTube[/ame]

The vacuum line for the boost gauge broke off at some point, so out came the super glue.

Made it home alright, now time for the next update after having A/C for a bit

July 22, 2012 - Hood is finally on

The car kept overheating on hot days with the a/c on, so I decided it was time for the vented hood to go on. I am going to have a heat shield made and get a better pusher fan to replace the 10" Mishimoto here soon.

Decided on placement for the hood latches so I drilled my hole

Pin is in (anti-seize on top to mark the hood where to drill into it)

They were way too long though, so I shortened them afterwards (actually took another inch off after this as well)

Drilled out the hole in the hood and got the hood to close. Got these handy dandy outlines for the latch hole, so I put them on and decided on position. Also put down an old sheet to keep the engine bay from getting too dirty

Time to cut this piece of crap up

All cut up, hood latches go in and holes are drilled, so time to finish sanding it and plastidip it

      First coat done

Put a couple more coats on to even it out and on the car it went

And I put some mesh in to keep bugs/debris/small children out (painted it black)

And that is all, doesn't overheat as much but still does some on really hot days with the a/c on like it did before. I will be having the side vents filled in sometime and paint the hood if I decide that I want to keep it on. With some paint I think it will look much much better

August 11, 2012 - Broken pressure plate, new clutch in

Well...had a little mishap the other night...

Did a couple pulls last night while it was raining (yes, sliding around, it is fun at times lol). Anyhow, I thought I heard a rattling noise while turning to meet up with some locals after doing said pulls. Didn't think much of it...but then I heard it again. And I also felt that my clutch pedal had lost some pressure. Got to Pineapple Whip and look under my car to see if anything was loose or dragging, nothing was. Went to leave after hanging out for a couple hours and I heard the clanking/rattling again...at this point I am thinking broken center diff, something wrong with the trans, etc. Limped it home and jacked it up to see if an axle had broken or anything like that...nothing. So the next morning when I jacked it up again and pulled back the clutch fork boot, out fell that^^^^

Pictures after getting everything torn apart

        The usual torn apart car

(The mark on there is from something else, there are no marks on the fork from rubbing against anything)

        PP Surface

        Disk

        Carnage in bell housing

Turns out I have had an ACT Streetlite flywheel (or a very good lookalike) since I have owned the car, so I got it measured and it was within spec thickness wise, so I had it resurfaced and put it back on.

Went with a Southbend 2200# pp and love it, no gripes so far after 500 miles. Clutch engagement/disengagement is so much smoother with the full face kevlar disk. I am just happier all around with the clutch. Although I do have a rather irritating thing that happened...my 10k mile OEM tob sounded rough when I pulled it out, so I found another low mile oem tob in my garage that didn't make a peep. Well now I have tob noise, so the trans will have to come part way out so I can change that mothereffer. I am trying to see how little I can take off and just slide the trans out to reach it and replace it. Shitty luck to say the least. Tried going with the tob that wouldn't cause me any problems and it did. Too bad I was trying to get it finished by a certain day or I could have just ordered a new oem. Anyhow, more updates soon to come.

          September 16, 2012 - BLT, E85 goo, and goodies

Welp, slight update. TOB is still making noise but I don't feel like changing it until winter so I am leaving it as is for now. I have had an idle issue for a while now where it idles high for a few seconds before dropping back down to regular idle. Checked the isc and it was good but replaced it anyhow, no change. Tune hasn't changed any so it shouldn't be the tune. So I did a blt to see if I had any major leaks and actually did find a couple larger ones. My throttle body shaft seals were leaking so I pulled it out to do the rebuild with orings. Well in the process of prying out the metal sleeves, I messed it up some, so of course it leaked. Luckily a local DSMer had a 1g throttle body lying around, so I picked that up and put it on.

Old on left, new on right

While I had the tb off I noticed that my intake manifold was extremely filthy, I don't understand how though. No pcv valve going into it, and no egr either. Also not a spec of dirt on the tb plate or in the intake pipes, but this in the intake manifold.

Any ideas where all of this came from??

The tb wasn't the only leak though. One of my injectors was leaking around the bottom seal, so I pulled it out to put a dab of rtv in the usual spot...and found this...again...on all four

After cleaning them up a bit. I switched to pump gas for a tank to clean them out thoroughly though.

So I got everything back together and didn't find any more major leaks. The car still has the high idle at startup for some reason but it isn't nearly as bad. A few days after getting it back together though, it was hit yet again. This will be the THIRD time within a year. At least this one wasn't a hit and run thank god. Guys insurance should be paying to fix it all.

Pushed in the rear panel, scratched the bumper, and dented the hatch some. Everything will be fixed and painted as soon as they cut me the check. It works out though, the bumper needed repainted anyhow since it was hit two weeks after being repainted the last time. The hatch was cracked around the wiper hole from the paint job as well, so my painter will be fixing that properly this time.

In the meantime, I picked up a few goodies. I have been wanting a Tial BOV for a while now, so when I saw one for a good price I decided to pick it up. Also ordered the uicp straight from vrspeed for a good price so I didn't have to find a bung to be welded on.

Hit the top of the Tial with some polish, really helped out a lot

And last but not least, time to go lower for fun haha. I picked these ksports up for a steal with a blown rear shock. I disassembled the rears and the blown one still has some pressure in it, so I am going to throw them on and see what happens. There is no performance aspect to what I will be doing, it is just for looks, and it will probably be super impractical so it will probably be temporary...but who knows, it may work out.

Updates with the paint work done and moar low hopefully soon, stay tuned folks

Sold the ksports for a pretty decent profit...bought a new phone with it haha. Have a Galaxy S3 to try out android for a bit and I am really liking it. Iphone 5 is still tempting though. Also took the car in to get it fixed from the minor collision.

Only 1 picture for slight viewing pleasure...but it isn't much, so probably not even pleasurable. My body guy is fixing the cracked spoiler hole from where the previous body guy screwed up, that's why there is a large hole in my hatch

I actually just got this one. Hatch is primered and bumper is now ready for paint I believe. Should have it finished up by Thursday if all goes well

Thank you! I am starting to see more and more clean ones show up and it's a nice feeling haha. They went through a pretty rough spell for a while

There are still plenty of riced out DSM's around here, and they only seem to be 2g's.

Even the Fast and the Furious 2g is 5 miles from my house...
Its a bone stock GS under all of those wings and stickers.

Oh I didn't mean there aren't still riced out ones around, because they are everywhere. I just mean that I am actually seeing more that look great instead of seeing very very few that look good

^^^ amen to that, even more and more 1g's are getting modded too.

I think you are a trend setter man. You easily have the least riciest, best looking, most functional, amazing 2g ever.

Do you remember on Pimp my Ride when they ruined that 2g? That shit was classic F&F era shit hahahaha.

Well thank you, I appreciate that. A friend of mine is actually building a 1g right now that is going to set the expectation for what a modded 1g should be like. Insane amount of work is going into it. And thank god I didn't see that episode lol, I'm not sure that I would want to

Haha good to hear man, get that thing running!

Had the MoAr Low/TruForm (look us up on Facebook) meet Sunday and it was a great turnout. I didn't take any pics but I have seen a few surface of my car, here they be

I took out one adjusting collar in the rear..this is the result. I will be leaving it at this ride height for a good while now. It is perfect for my car in my eyes. Still plenty drive-able and not too much of a pain to daily if I want to

Few new goodies in the bay

A shot of all of the MoAr Low members

There was a beautiful sunset tonight so I went out searching for a decent place to get a few shots in. Came up with a couple, although I still need to brighten them a bit in my opinion.

The pics do need a bit more light though, I like how shiny that paint is.
