Thanks man, future plans are to put the a/c in and fix the headliner. There are a couple others things I need to fix as well but those are the two near future plans
Well a couple days ago (Tuesday I believe) I was contacted by the editor of S3 Magazine to do a feature on my car. I was ecstatic! He asked if it was running (another DSM guy I think lol) and I said yes, so his photographer contacted me and we set up a time and place to meet for the shoot. Now I only had a couple days to get my car picture worthy so I started throwing things together rather quickly.
Firstly, I took my 2gb side skirts to a friends shop (Kirk Kustoms) to be painted. I asked him if he could possibly have them done by Friday and he said sure. While I was there he offered a killer price on a full buff and detail for me...so I gave in and brought the car to him Thursday morning. Amazingly, the side skirts were almost done as well! So it worked out perfectly.
Jacked the car to get to the bottom screws for the side skirts better
Wetsanding on the hood began and I took off the front wheels to fit my screwdriver to take off the old endcap
Hood has been buffed over with rubbing compound
And now the bumper
By that time I had the old side skirts off and the new ones were finished drying, so on they went!
I have had crappy cut up carpet in my car for a while so I finally picked up some extra carpet and put it in Ritz dye for 24 hours before heading to the body shop for the buff and wax
Before being put in the dye
In the dye
Old carpet out
Annnd, I fail for after results lol. I will take a picture of it today to add to this
Anyhow, car being washed after the polishing compound did its work
And all done! Ready for its date with the photographer
I got a few pictures of the photographer at work. The car won't be featured until the November issue I believe so the anticipation will kill me, but I am excited to see some of the editing the photographer does to the pictures and what he shows me until then.
After the photographer was done, my friends and I needed to kill some time so we went and did a little photoshoot ourselves
That was the best build thread I have read through EVAR!!! literally just took an hour break from work to read this...Props to the OP your car looks amazing, so glad you didn't give up after the 1st hit & run!
Oh, and a few pictures of my wheel/tire fitment. Car could go a bit lower to really give it some good fitment but the coilovers are maxed out and won't go any lower so this will do for now

Quoting these for the new page, so others who have shitty internet like myself don't have to wait as long.

It wasn't common back then. That was 2004 when that issue hit stands. When I saw it, I could not really comprehend a 10 second street car.
Yeah, those cams are amazing. I saw a set on a 1g tsi during a rebuild, and the car was pushing somewhere around 300 at the wheels on low boost when all was said and done.
This is one long page and is lagging my dsl out hahaha.
Lol yeah sorry about the hundreds of pictures, it has been a long build :P And yeah, back then it was crazy to see that but now with the capabilities of dsmlink and the popularity of E85 it isn't extremely uncommon anymore. Sure, not everyone has a car that fast, but there are definitely a LOT more than their used to be. I love the cams, they are sort of old technology but they work damn well. I am running 26psi and should be right around 400awhp with my trap speeds
