Have you heard of any draw backs using a rear coils over the leaf?

Or is this just classic GM not giving fucks?
GM comes from the school of thought that "if it ain't broke...why fix it." The corvettes have been using transverse leaf springs since 1963 and it actually does pretty well in stock form. Just look at the Nurburg ring times for the Z06 and ZR1.

Only drawback I can think of is price$$$, and coils are on front and rear. Car does not lift in the front, and ride is a lot more planted...plus you can go LOW.

It's a pretty spectacular piece of kit.

Just to get you motivated for your next updates on the car - reardiffuser and center exhaust:

That looks great. Has the handling characteristics changed since swapping to the coilovers?

Handling characteristics have dramatically changed and improved. The car feels very flat going around turns and during acceleration. It's a kind of a weird feeling at first, because the Z06 had very very subtle body roll and twitchiness that is felt especially when you come out of the turn. I seemed to have decreased the twitchy feeling by adding Bilstein shocks that were specifically valved for the Z06 by DRM (Doug Rippie Motorsports), however, I couldn't get the adjustability I was looking for when it came to lowering the car. There is only so much adjustment one can do with the adjustment bolts at the end of the leaf spring.

Now with coilovers, there is no twitchy feeling, and the fact that I can adjust the dampening as well as the sways to control under/oversteer is just an added benefit to go coils and sways...I'm looking to achieve that nice turn in with the car planted, and an occassional slight dift if need be. I will be adjusting the ride height and dampening tonight.

This is such a coincidence, I saw SUCH a low z06 on the way to school today, it had the zr1 wheels you're on tinted tails and a rear diffuser and central exhaust like teckniX posted. I was in awe, it was as low as I was and it sounded AMAZING, I don't think I've ever been so excited about a corvette it was wonderful, Good luck with the vette it looks like you're off to a good start. P.S. I have a friend who worked for an aftermarket corvette parts company here and he left after two months because he couldn't take that GM "if it ain't broke why fix it" mentality. I believe they actually manufactured suspension parts, but he said that he was the only person in the entire company under 50, not only was the school of thought oldschool but so were the employees. He said that if they had been willing to change their ideals they could have developed awesome modern parts in house without any extra effort.

Learn how they work on this car before slamming them. It is absolutely NOTHING like what you'll find on a pickup truck.
