  • Gold 190E

My car is in a sad state.... I was given a 1984 190E from a friend of mines parents. Plague with supposed transmission problems it was parked in 2004 and has not been started since. Fast forward to 2012... and it is in my garage. Free and clear, dirty and in a state of dismay and no start. Started cleaning out the interior so i could stand to be in it, within the next couple days I will drain the tank and flush the fuel lines and try to start her up. A couple vacuum lines have been eaten and the sparkplug wires have been knawed on.

Once the car is running again I will need to start working on the suspension. I could start on body work but i want to get a proper stance on it first. looking at doing air ride. Figure bags in place of the springs but unsure of what shocks are recommended for air ride on this car. Any ideas?

So please shoot me some suggestions and ideas. Need to make this car very nice. Pictures will be posted in the morning! At work right now.

ok update. I finally found one of my cameras..... but no cords.... believe to be stolen at this point. i will put pictures up of current condition of my 190e but it is not pretty. i have the hood dents pulled, filled and smoothed. almost done with roof and fenders. i need a fuel pump dumped old gas and put fresh in and went to flush lines and no fluid came out... so i took a volt meter and i have 11volts to the pump while cranking. Anyone have a good one they want to donate to see if we can determine the next issue to address?

If you haven't already, you might want to head over to 190rev.net for help getting to the point where you can start focusing on stance.

Wow, before trying to stance it, how about trying to make it look nice.
New star since you said you were giving it away, euro headlights, remove the tint, a new paint job, cladding kit, fix up the dents and that's just a start.
If you do end up bagging the car, i'd love to see the outcome. Most of us w201 drivers just use shorter springs to reduce our ride height. As for shocks, you can't go wrong with bilstein shock/struts.

i am doing the body work now. gonna repaint it in its original champagne 437. also cleaning up the interior. after body work is done and painted i will start stancing it then start on the interior. New star is like $30 and gonna get a new grill cause the one that was on it has seen better days. Gonna try and order in a fuel pump soon to get it started so i can fix the vacuum lines and get it running smooth.

id suggest getting your wheel fitment dont before paint so you know if you need to work on the guards or not? thered be nothing worse then getting it painted, then realising u need to roll/pull the gurds and fcking up the nice new paint

i like when it starts with a very neglected car. The mods and progress are more evident

                              nice colour, that's a start

imo, lower it, not bags, and go to a set of OZ AMG's 8,5 and 10j17" with gold center and mirror polished lips.

remove that black windows and keep the original colour. OEM front grill and headlights (at least in Europe the headlights are different), matte black the bumpers and all the plastic pieces, respray the taillights in red, keep the ambar in front...clean and polish all the car...

                              then it would look awesome
