Well today I remembered why I don't park under trees, even for a few hours.
Also don't park under bridges.
(damn flying rats!)
I was also wondering how the US-sidemarkers work, since I'm planning to put them on my E30. Do they light up when you start the engine, or when you turn on the lights? (same question for the front indicators?)
And, do you have to pay extra for a personalized license plate? Here in Belgium it's like €1000 and you don't even have that much freedom (has to be 9-ABC-123 or 9-123-ABC, though there's rumors that perso plates won't have to have a '9' in front anymore and that you also will be able to put a word or number like 'BMW' or '318is' (limited to 7 characters) in stead of the 9-xxx-xxx you have now).
Just finished reading the whole thread. Damn, this E Dirty really sounds badass. Also like your humor btw. Wish I had skills like this. ö
What do you study btw?

Haha! Thanks bud, really appreciate the kind words! I studied Mechanical Engineering for a year, but will be going to school for Industrial Design this next year.
I believe they turn on when the lights are turned on, no need for engine. As I said, that is what I recall, as I have not had bulbs in mine for a while haha.
As for plates, yes, we do, but we're very lucky. In my states it's only about $50usd for custom plates, and we're pretty unlimited in what we can choose.
So I actually had a day off between my 50+ hour work weeks to get some work done to get the car back on the road. I needed to put my new clutch slave cylinder on and I also wanted to get my new headers on. Since taking the headers off makes the path to take the slave out, I figured I'd pull those off first.
first I pulled the plug wires off after labeling their order.
Then started unbolting and pulled them off
Now, I had been warned not to use paper gaskets for the headers, and today, I learned why.
Here's a comparison of the new to old headers, and the new copper gaskets I had to put on.
While I had the rusty bolts off, I figured I'd wire wheel them and give them some primer and engine enamel paint. Before/ after
Also gave the "exhaust" a quick coat.
Now, while I was under the car I had another look at my tired, barely hanging on skidplate, and noticed something weird about the oil pan. I'll let the pictures do the talking, but the sides of the pan *use to* be flat.
Now it was time for the clutch overhaul of a new slave cylinder, DOT4 fluid and a heat sleeve for the braided line.
Got that finished up and bled, we bench bled it and held the slave high in the air to rid the line of any more air pockets. Got it back in and adjusted, and I'm still amazed; there is so much more feel and clutch engagement linearity than ever before. I love it!
So now some pics of the headers on. Would look better if the rest of my engine/ bay didn't look like trash. But that will be fixed soon!
he351v turbo... go look up what it's from for a good laugh. It's just shitty because I've had this setup for over a year now and have barely been able to do more with it. College is expensive as fuuuuuuck and I haven't been able to change much.
Got a new dash and started making my interior look half decent(this is about a month or so old, never updated. I lost two of the trim pieces by the cluster somehow, so I need to find those...
just read through 35 pages..... there's so much work done and so much left....
j/c but why was the cd player upside down in the beginning of the build?
but.... nice build keep up the good work! i would love to see this completely finished. I'm really surprised i haven't seen this till now (since i been lurking here on SW since last Christmas.)
