hey whats up...glad to see u still have the 740!! do work man...ur car has always motivated me =]
thanks for the kind words, after all these years, I think my goal is more realistic than before, now its just simple, low, wide, quick and reliable enough to drive it to places.
Since its Friday, I went home early and began taking the front apart.
the engine bay seems to be in OK shape, going to take it apart one by one and get it clean up good.
I've bought a set of spare glass lenses for the HID retrofit, as you can see in the 940 e-codes
the idea is to keep all other fluted area except the projectors, a'la VW Rallye style headlights, I'm trying to make the car look modern, I just want it to look nicer than now.
This is probably one of the longest retrofit for any headlights, I've had the parts to do it for at least 3 years now, and I began doing this in Dec, but work and other stuff kinda caught up with until this weekend.
Here's the almost end product.
All its left is to finish the lenses and mount the ballast, the projectors and bazels are off an E39 OEM angel eyes headlights, hopefully I'll get it done within a day or two if time permits.
And new MAE's that I've bought off Byron, also sourced some NIB MAE Caps, which to my surprise they are worth a lot of money!
I've seen this over on TB, but I didn't know the history of it. Really cool man, and i'm excited to see the new parts installed.
I've had the car for a long time, I remember when I just started to drive it in high school, I wanted those altezza lights so bad, I even tried to make my own set.
the headlights progress is slow, as my rotary tool is corless so I keep having to charge it, not to mention its glass lenses, so I really took my time with slower speed to de-flute the lenses.
When you called me the other day and told me you bought MAEs I didn't put one and two together. Like two hours later I called Byron to talk to him about something and we were shooting the shit when he told me he sold his MAEs.
It was a cool reminder of how small the world is. Glad they went to a good home. I can't see the pics at work but i'm sure it will look sick.

I've been sick as a dog for past couple of days, so nothing much happened other than I discovered tons of parts I've bought over the years that never used, while I was drinking soup and cough syrup, the wheels came and Byron literally packed these wheels to the max, the lips are lot deeper than I imagine, especially consider the width and the offset, I'm very happy.
I was able to get a pair of front rotors that are still usable from work, the rotor hats needs enlarging the CB since they were for the C30/S40/V50 cars, and I did a quick mock up with the brakes and wheel.
I had the headlights retrofit done for a week now, I was pretty excited as they look bunker on the dining table:
But when I installed them on the car, I was doing this as it looks like the "me-gusta" face, may not be for everyone, but it does make me laugh everytime I see it, so I"m gonna keep them as it for now.
And I finally found a set of MAE centercaps, never used either, the only thing now is find out what screws are used for these center caps, if anyone knows what size and where to find them, please let me know.
