Front painted and rear mounted.

Soon I will do work on the mouldings. I'll get M mouldings for the side, remove the M badge and make all the mouldings smooth and paint them the same color as the black on the bumpers.

Rear bumper finished, paint just needs to cure a bit.

Looks a bit darker IRL.
Also fixed my foglight inserts - next time they crack it's time for a new front bumper though.

And the rear is off.

Don't mind the gap, comes from the car being jacked up beforehand.
Discovered that the bumper support has a crack, which is the reason for the bumper hanging as crooked as it did.

Just pulled the front bumper.
Was going to pull the rear bumper also, but it started to rain heavily, so I'm just waiting for it to dry up again before I pull that.
I can start sanding down the rear bumper this evening, front bumper has to wait until I fix the fog light holders, then I'll start that. And then i can start painting.

Lol, the grass is always greener, eh?
You americans are the only ones that want the ugly cloth interior, lol.
News:
I found a TÜV station that will definitively give me approval for the height I want with 17"s (even though technically that would still be illegal due to light output height... but not many cops actually know about this law), for a reasonable price...
ATM I'm strongly leaning towards this option, with 18s I fear I wouldn't be able to get the car as low as I want and after thinking some more, bags are too expensive for me and as the car isn't really a daily anymore since I use the train to get to work more and more, I don't really need bags anyways. So hard stance on 17s, it looks like.
Now I want new wheels.
Anyone got any suggestions what could look good? Sizes I want are fronts 8 - 8.5J and rears 9 - 9.5J. Nothing smaller and nothing wider.Last edited by Dr.AK; 07-08-2009, 09:26 PM.

I live only about 50kms south-west of Cologne, a town called Bedburg.
Meeting up would be pretty cool, but no snapping photos of the car just yet, lol. It looks terrible at the moment, slightly crooked bumpers, empty holes for fogs, some heavy scratches and stuff. Since I don't have to work for the next 3 weeks, I can finally get some of this isht fixed and the car looking somewhat nice again.
I really need to get the car detailed to try to get out as much as possible of the scratches. I have some really deep ones now on my hood, looks almost like someone tried to sit on it with a studded belt or something.
Same on the trunk, but those should come out with a good detail and I know the guy that put them there, so if I don't get them out, he'll pay for new paint on the trunk.
/edit:
Still received no words as of yet about my fine and if I have to retake my driving test. Apparently in cases like these where you get what's called a "Mängelkarte", it can take up to 6 months for an official notification about your fine to reach you.
Cool man, yeah I know where Bedburg is, kinda close to Dusseldorf? We may have to work something out man, would be cool to meet up with you for sure, I former classmate of mine is back in his hometown somewhere close to you. If you want help detailing your car I would be more then happy to. We will be in touch.

I'm still debating on what to do to the car...
I can't really decide if I will go with bags or stance it on 18s.
On one side, bags would be real awesome because I would be able to get around everywhere while still driving the car superlow daily. On the other hand, bags are way more expensive and complicated than simply stancing it on 18s.
The figures I have in my head right now are about 2.5 - 3k + install for the bags + rear fender roll + a refurb for the Azevs or maybe a set of new wheels or around 500-1000 wheels + tires + rear fender roll and possibly spacers for the 18s.
I really can't make up my mind if bags are worth the extra money for me. I think the way that would make the most sense is to go with 18s and if I still want bags at a later time, I can add them later when I have a better paying job (just a apprentice phone technican right now, making about 700€ per month...).
What's your input on this guys?Last edited by Dr.AK; 06-28-2009, 07:10 PM.

Just replaced the strut bearings. And guess what? With new bearings the car came up 2cm in the front, lol. Cranked the coils down 2cm, so all is fine now.
