the car stayed like this for a few months - but as we did such a shit job of painting it (we didn't even do the door checks or remove the front lights or anything !!#)
I was putting plans into place to get it done properly
so except a brief fling with a set of 16" steelies and whitewalls (which went on the car and got taken back off within 6 miles as the tyres were fucking massive) nothing happened until the big stripdown started in August 10
this took the best part of a month all in - as it was still my daily throughout all the work
parked at work
not gonna bore you any more with hundreds of pics cause we did loads and loads of work to it, quarters, wings, doorchecks, under bonnet / engine bay, boot floor etc
anyway finished result of stage 2
and the only "decent" picture i took of it on a real camera when it was finished
so was pretty happy with the car - loved the matt stealthyness of it and how little it stood out while being different enough to get noticed...
then january 11 this happened
someone was trying to break into the shop next to my house, slipped fell and landed on the ibiza - cue smashed quarter window, rippled roof and majorly dented a pillar :sad2:
bastards
February:
smashed sump due to unforseen rock in road incident
March was uneventful
April :
nothing major to report, except a pressure washing incident leaving my car looking like this!!!
and we're now pretty much upto date other than grills /foglights etc getting smashed by stones flying up from the road, - seems my luck with unloved is poor to say the least.
It's pretty much a given if something can go wrong then it will
bascially not touched the car at all since january and the window incident except to keep it running / serviced etc
However it's not all bad news: plans are now in motion to get the thing redone properly again - real life paint from a gun with lacquer and everything
Slowly starting to collect the relevant parts to make this a decent motor again and ordered my paint and materials etc so i can get cracking once christmas is out the way
Apologies for the longest build thread for a shitter ever known to man - i understand some of you may have fallen asleep half way through it - but hopefully from now on the changes will be worth seeing
i'll keep this updated as and when stuff happens
Thoughts and comments welcome - even if you wanna call me a douche for rattlecanning my car
just put a lot more time / effort into the preperation and application - the finish was really brilliant - no patchyness or blotches etc - an even consistant finish over the whole car
(which i'm lead to believe is unusual with rattlecans )
