thought i'd get a retrospective build thread up to show y'all my daily beater and the "progress" of it over the years i've owned it. i realise you're probably gonna see this and think what the fuck ? as i dont think you get Seat's over the pond, but anyway here it is in all it's glory.

Edition 38 2008 Makeover September 08

Spanish LHD taillight to lose white reverse light "blob"
V-maxx coilovers wound right down / no adjusters at rear
Rear badges removed,
Front Grille / Badge & Foglight Trims sprayed gloss Black
Leon Cupra R splitter (not fitted in Pics)
and obviously the Colour coded 16" Beetle steelies






Looking back i really liked this stage of it - wish i'd fitted spacers and painted the mirrors though.

Some Recaro Seats for the kiddies - gotta keep them happy

And it stayed like that for a whole month till MOT time

i knew it would never pass the MOT being that low so i raised it approx 50mm - the MOT tester said it was a borderline pass because he couldn't get it on the brake tester and was shocked when i explained i'd already raised it 50mm

whilst getting the new tyres fitted some thinners was spilled on one of my wheels and the red paint started to run off, so to make the best out of a bad situation i moved onto the next stage of my steelies





i also painted the mirrors as the silver bugged my happiness

Decided to do something a bit silly for winter and gave my standard wheels a refurb in a stupid colour.......






liked it much better than i thought i would but obviously it wasn't a permanent thing

couldnt really see the wheels through the dirt anyway

its a kinda tradition with my cars - wintertime is a no wash period

This thing ate tyres beyond belief due to poor tracking / toe etc so was always on the lookout for cheap wheels

guy on our local forum was selling some Santa Monicas cheap with decent tyres so i bought them and fired them on

one small problem with them - 2 were black and 2 were a kindof fluro green





really liked the black side - but the green side sure got it noticed !

so - this happened




kinda cut coming out my drive a little tight and caught the wall of the shop next to it

was not a high point in the cars life tbh

this was definately the turning point in the car slowly turning into the unloved state its in at the moment - no motivation for it after this - well very little anyway

should wash your car more in the winter cause not washing it is a nice way to get rust holes Js. (working as a autobody repair and perfectionist my moms dodge neon which are Rust whores never had rust cause it was cleaned WEEKLY in the winter so just a word of caution)

other then that nice wheels but should change the colors i liked the Red and Back Steelies, the Green and black is just weird to me

i would just widened those steelies or, better, got a set of parabols (from tt)
I did'nt understand if you still own this ibiza

in every case i like it the most in the second picture..with red steels

I Managed to convice the better halfs mum to swap me the wheels from her car (BBS RW 7.5x17 et 35 ) for the santa monicas once i'd painted them all black


fired them on with huge tyres and decided these were the wheels for the car





Just to add - i know that my car generally sits like shit and has no stance whatsoever (i'm sure it'll get pointed out anyway )

managed to pick up a pair of 185/35/17 tyres for much cheapness so i thought i'd give them a try and run the car as low as it would physically go



here is a picture of my coilover - the top ring is where i set it to pass it's MOT last year, and basically left it since



and here is where it sat after adjustment :thumbup:

which resulted in this ....




still in desperate need of matching tyres and spacers - but a step in the right direction .

i had a bit of a dilemma - what do you do if your car has a space on a stand at a show - and in between signing up for said show and show date arriving you've damaged the car and it hasn't been fixed ? ? ?

well the decision was made to make a bit of a feature of the car and its lack of show worthyness - so this is what happens when you get a bunch of forum members and many many rolls of electrical tape

this i feel is a good indication of how little i cared for the car by this stage

turns out the judges quite liked the abnormal approach to show preperation and we actually got best clubstand of the day

Efter the last show of the season (for me anyway) Edition38 was out the way i chucked some 15 wheels on to see me through the winter

again didn't have cash to fix the quarter so stuck some reject tape on the damage instead

didn't take the tape off till end of october which resulted in this

which was a life lesson if nothing else - dont stick shit to your car for months at a time !

Now i know you're all sitting thinking "what has this guy done to his car to merit a build thread?" and you'd be right, my car was always a bit of fun - kinda a 2 fingered salute to the people who take the modifying game too seriously - but the real reason is basically i lost heart in it. With me running it so low with the RW's on it the car couldn't get in my drive - and leaving it in the street turned out to be a bad idea - the car got keyed and damaged one night which did not help with my general hatrid for the thing

decided to cut my losses and move onto something else - so put it back to standard and nearly got rid

however i changed my mind at the last minute and decided to soldier on

Now we get to the stage that i really lost the plot with the car - April / May 10

With more damage happening to the car on what seemed like a weekly basis i was really over the whole thing - wishing i had got rid of it when i had the chance

So i did something which could be described as a bit mental.....

Decided to gather a whole host of mates and give the car a bit of a makeover.....



Can you tell where this is going ~?








Yeah - so basically we rattlecanned the car satin black in about 5/6 hours with the cheapest shittyest paint known to man - this cost me £18 in total

looking back i must've been smoking crack...............

saw this on an R8 spyder advert on a hot rod and decided it was perfect for the ibiza - got a mate to screen grab the font and make me some vinyl

then a smooth front bumper to remove the plate
