i promissed more updates on body work/interior but crppy weather and uni has held me up. instead i shortened my front struts. i will get some gti rabbit billies for them. i cut 75mm out. for my imperial friends its roughly 3inches. i cleaned up the welds and sprayed some etch primer over it until i get some sleeves. only problem i had was that a somewat large piece of slag has stuck itself on the inside of the strut tube. a chisel and hammer will take care of that tomorrow. another reason for slow updates has been that some friends and i are building an arcade machine and i got given the control panel, so ive been chopping and drilling this odd material called wood. its coming out nice though.

and that control panel half done

australia car rules suck, my mk2 has twice the rust that that thing has and it is one of my more solid cars.
that being said i would love if it was al rust free, this car is going to be sick, keep up the work, i love e21s and all old bimmers for that matter

now that xmas and new years are over i have gotten back to work on her. Been putting off working on her as it has been between 32-40 degrees (celsius) everyday for the past couple of weeks. so for the past 2 days ive been working on her again. spent a large amount time digging out all the crap from my inspetion pit so i can get under and hit it with a pressure washer. ive been in uncomfortable dirty places, but this one was in the top 10. amazing how much crap builds up in a couple of years. committed genocide on spiders too. cleaning went well at least. trans tunnel needs some degreaser but it 100000000 times better than what it was. bay is almost ready for paint and now i can start putting the subframes and fuel tanks back in.
working the spade.

arches are almost all done

got all that foam off the bonnet

tunnel still needs work

some surface rusrt to take care of, then just need to lay some seam sealer and i can paint

rear arches came up ok but could use some degreaser

the camera gave the photos a brown/orange tinge. i think its the reflection from the bricks but its all clean now

dad borrowed 2 of my stands for his e30 so i got some trusty bricks

ive also had some distraction. my brothers old subaru got written of and insurance money came through. he got a s14A. has a rebuilt wngine, with a steel head gasket, tomei poncams, a larger intercooler, nistune computer, tein coil overs, camber plates and some no name 18x8.5 rims. trying to convince to get on here but he says it "too low" and rubs/scrapes "too much" and that he doesnt want to do anything to it.

ill be back late with engine picsLast edited by jlaffo91; 01-20-2013, 12:10 PM.

So I know its been ages since I updated this. Mainly due to the swap on my Hilux I'm doing/getting no where with. winter is coming so I need to get the body patched up so I can put all the windows and other panels back on so it can survive rain. I got u bunch of old bits of 0.95mm thick galvanised sheet metal and made some shapes out of it to begin the patch work. I was worried that the metal may be a bit thin for parts of the floor. to make it worse, I ran out of gas.... again, my auto darkening helmet died, my grinder died, and I ran out of primer on a public holiday. made do with old #13 tint helmet, .9mm flux cored wire, tin snips, a wire brush, and some seam sealer, which will have to be ground back so I can finish the work later. it was a shit day. this is how it turned out. not the prettiest I've ever seen. also my brother sold his s14 after 3 months because it was "too hard to live with".
onto pics.
the badge holes in the boot

corner of the drivers side ATTENTION METAL WORKERS: I am aware of the faults here. just wanted to fill the damn hole

its messy but it is strong and will get covered anyway. gotta do passenger side and then some stuff in the rear wheel arch. then its replacing the tail section and I can start painting

Unfortunately this project has been abandoned. There was too much rust in the tail, in both doors, fenders etc. The shell will go to BMW heaven soon, but still lots of good parts.
Got good parts still. Euro bumpers are in Decent nick. Free to a good home. Will ship. No one in Perth wants them or any parts.
I have now been given an E30 (had to pay a whopping $31.50 for transfers) which will get the parts intended for the E21
