When I first saw this thread I thought it was a lost cause, but you're doing a great job restoring it and I've changed my mind. Good job so far!

So today i pulled the rear subframe, drive shaft, fuel tank and the rest of the exhaust. I had to cut the exhaust apart because someone had welded every piece togather and tried to repair it a million times. There was soooo much gunk on the diff. I gave it a quick once over with a wire brush. Anyone know any brands that sell urethane subframe mounts for e21's? I want some. Car is basically a shell now.

make shift loudness. probably the main reason the car was defected.

You can fill your existing mounts with poly to stiffen them up, or there's Eurometric. He sells the whole poly setup for like 600 usd. And for spring break, can't go wrong with Pensacola Beach, Florida

finished a test early today so i raced home to get working on her. I figured that if im going to be painting the interior soon i might want to have some interior panels for it. so i went through the boot and dug out all the old stuff. Carpet got thrown out long ago as it was absolutely fucked. unfortunately it rained alot lately and it would seem that the boot does not even come close to being sealed. Door cards got wet and went out of shape. I'm still deciding wether to fix them or to just make new ones, but i really like the rear arm rests. seats are in deep storage so ill pull them out tomorrow. they too are stuffed. I will be starting to repair the tail panel soon. if all fails ill just have to bite the bullet and spend large amounts of money of having a new panel posted over here.

wanted to see what it looked like with windows. they are the pop out ones

some bits that didnt go too wobbly

the last surviving piece of carpet

i slapped on the cut out rusted piece (kept it as a template) and the plastic cover just to remember what it once looked like

needs a clean but my grill got painted black a while back

i had forgoten i kept these. still wondeing wether to use them or just weld up the holes it mounts to

                the dusty cluster.

i think the reason for the bad rust in the rear was that it had a towball when i git it. i cut it off but it was rusted to parts of the car. not looking forward to the battle of the boot

did something i was not looking forward to. i pulled the whole wiring loom and removed all the old dirty tape, and then gave it a wash in the bath with some hot water and washing machiine detergent. the amount of crap that came out was amazing. i had a whole handful of grime stuck in the drain filter, and the water was dark brown.

i have done a bit more lately because i have been on holidays. i spent ages getting rid of the rest of the glue on the back support. got out the spray gun and hit it with primer. interior is 95% primed now. just need to finish up a few more welds on panels tomorrow and then i can prime and paint the rest. unfortunately it rained as on a night it wasnt meant to (35 celsius through the day i thought i was safe), and it has some watermarks on it now, but they will get recovered and at least i know that the primer is doing a good job at keeping the rust away.

yes im aware of the gaping holes in this photo

ill update again soon as ive been busy making lots of panel repair pieces.
