so got into it and started thrashing today.
got it all torn down

threw a new wheel on the front and of course it doesn't clear the coil over. sigh

machined a few things and got my new trigger wheel mounted

next weekend hopefully have the cage cut out of it and mod the valve covers for the coil on plug conversion.

did more things this weekend.
got the wind shield pulled and started cutting out the cage and pulling more parts off the truck which shall not return like the exhaust, battery box, etc.

goodbye old jungle gym

cut the old cab mounts out and made my own which will serve dual purpose as the base plates for the new cage.

front cab mount

rear cab mount

front (bodyside) cab mount/base plate

rear (bodyside) cab mount/base plate

the long hardware is just temporary for that.

got about halfway done with the cage this weekend.
main hood structure

perfect fit

landed on the base plates on the money

decided to do a halo style cage. and luckily for me i was able to tack it in the truck and pull it out through the windshield so i could finish weld it on my work bench. made life so much easier.

tacked it back in the truck and installed my seat and so far the fit and head clearance is spot on!
more next weekend.
