          • Lol thanks for the kind words

Deniz, "how hard is it" depends on who's doing it. I mean if you don't know shit about nothing then it's impossible, if you've done something like this several times, it's easy. For me it's not what you can call easy as it's the first time to do a engine swap like this, but i have my dreams and i'd also say skills and opportunity to do it, so i'm giving everything to get it done

If you can't do it yourself, you have to have friends who can I'm tending to be that one guy who has to help my friends to get things done, so i wouldn't also say it's very hard to do this swap.. difficult yeah but not hard

Some facts about this kind of swap:
            * engine is too wide, you have to cut the body quite alot
            * 850 wheel track is wider about 100mm, which also means longer driveshafts, which means you have to make the subframe wider, which needs some good welding skills
            * for spindles from 850 you need also ball-joints from 850, which you have to attach to 400 control arms
            * tie rods too short
            * steering rack doesn't fit, i changed the positsion of it just a bit(went a bit lower)
            * with 850 spindles you're getting 4x108 or rather 5x108 pcd, but it's possible to put 5x108 also for rear wheels using bearing from 850.. the inner diameter SHOULD be the same with 400 diameter so then you just have to deal with the brake system

These are just some of the problems, as you see i'm not finished with my swap so i still don't know everything that might not fit

            • Hi there.. haven't done much in few weeks but this weekend got done most of the welding. Not much to say.. look at the pictures and enjoy

Looks like this with spindles from 850

              First got the subframe welded

              Then the car itself..

So this is how it looks right now.. other side needs spraying and then it's done also. The final touch would be painting the engine bay which will probably happen this week. Then i'll be starting to put this baby together

                • Hi.. engine sitting on its mountings finally

So as i was looking the "beast" from different angles.. i decided to put the engine on metal mountings.. just to avoid engine touching the body through torque movement. It just fits there so tight it hasn't got much room for moving.

                  • Fits quite nice...

Did you think about adding the "upper" engine mount thingi on the

                    left of the brakebooster?

As i know it's just bolted onto the firewall and the engine...

This may keep the engine from moving to much...

                    • Yes i'm aware of that "thingi" Problem is, it doesn't stop engine moving from side to side. First i'm going for metal mountings, if that doesn't work for me with the vibration, i'll think of something else.
The subframe itself has rubber bushings anyway so i think it would damp the bigger vibration no matter what

                      • And it's finally ALIVE

Has no exhaust manifold, map sensor, lambda sensor or any vacuum ends.. but it runs and is also a nice flamethrower
