It is my Fathers car, see He and I like our cars to be functional.....Not trailer queens.
It is low enough for us.
Also on the pics, apparently photo bucket resized them as they were originally something like 2mb a photo......Smart ass comments aside, I think we did rather well with it.
Now i remember why i avoid this site, I think you guys are just jelly because i can still fit a coke can on its side under my car
Damn that shit is HERRA low, how do you drive that shit dude?? And holy christ, those pics took forever to load bro. I thought my shit was gonna crash...
WARNING
PICTURE OVERLOAD(56k go buy broadband)
We had a pop that had developed whenever we would drive in it that progressively got worse, so after shopping around and settling on a set that we thought would work well for the car, we went price hunting, snagged the Eibach springs and the Koni Sports(Only front set is adjustable?) from www.shox.com for 950 shipped as a kit.
We ended up having to go out and buy a few other items as well(rear pitman arms and transfer case to frame mounts, and some other mis match items we like to call "Might as wells" at the Pratt Family House).
But the most annoying ones were the bumpstops, we got them from advanced for about 30 a piece.....But the story surrounding it is quite pitiful.
We ordered the fronts from advanced as they could get them next morning service from their warehouse, but the rears would have takes an extra day to obtain, being the impatient lot me and my father are when it comes to getting cars up in the air and down on the ground again in the shortest time possible, we had them order the parts, but went to O'Reillys to see if they had the rears, so we get there, Find a kindered BMW spirit behind the counter, and get them ordered, lo and behold, their system crashes, a few calls later he finds out no go on the system, we had ordered two right as the system crashed so we thought maybe they would come in. The call came in and our part was in. We show up to get it....only one bumpstop....Order fubar'd and ate itself when the server crashed, so we had to wait a day for it and the parts arrived from autozone anyways.
So we finally got all the suspension work done on the BMW(Big thanks to rob for help with info on cutting bumpstops)
Put it all up on jackstands
Pulled all the parts off so we could put in the inserts
Old Bump stop Is OLD
Eibach springs look smexy in a box, prolly look even better on the car, Say I wonder how those shocks look....
Oh look....Their Yellow!!!, It's a shame You can't see them because the ones in the front are inserts and the ones on the back are hidden away behind a big fat tire
All nice and new(few blemishes from shipping straps not working right)
Now what about the condition of the old inserts, I wonder if we will find the cause of that pop on the suspen- HOLY CRAP, I think we found the problem!
The old inserts were KYBs, so we know the suspension had been replaced previous to us upgrading it, what blew our minds about it was the sheer amount of damage the insert had(We were also slightly relieved that we had found a visible issue so my mom wouldn't just think my Dad was just blowing money on his cars.....this is the 2nd vehicle in 2 weeks we have done suspension on, my moms infiniti is next for a new suspension.....I'm dreading that one)......that and the fact that we hadn't had a wreck because to it.
The silver one is what it should look like, the busted one.....well, I'm surprised it didn't mess something up alot worse than it had
