  • I took the car out to Rd 3 of Lone Star Drift Sunday and, even though the car was same, felt like I went backwards. Didn't feel like I had enough power to clutch kick the first corner, and, when it did drift, I ran out of angle pretty quick.

    So last night this happened:

I pick it up tonight and plan on getting it running a bit better before pulling and scrapping the Mustang. Motor has quite a bit of new parts on it and the trans was recently rebuilt with new clutch, seals, etc.. Plan on cleaning up the motor with a few bolt ons, doing the swap, then deciding where I want to go power wise. Not going to be big power at first, but should be a huge upgrade to what I'm working with now.

...and that's why she has to die! The motor looks a little better than these pics, while the rest of the car is worse. My neighbors will probably not be as excited as I am that this will be in the driveway.

            • This is gonna be all kinds of awesome now you're sticking a V8 in it.

              • Aww

Why a 5.0? Unless you drop a few grand into it it's not going to be much faster then your current engine is now.

Got a lot more planned too. Hopefully this will be a beast by this time next year!

The few grand will most likely happen. I wouldn't be gaining much if I had an S52, but my car is a 323 (M52B25). I'll be picking up +40hp and +105tq with just the stock 5.0 with no significant weight gain. I imagine it will be exponentially faster than it is now.

Maybe in Sweden. In Texas, everything needs a V8!

WITH 230K mi. on the clock, and counting. This is a very important point.

And that's probably a conservative estimate, given the state of the M52. And let's not forget it will be all rumbly and loud as hell. This is also quite important.

                          • Thanks bros! Found a couple of pics from this weekend. No action shots yet, but maybe for the best, as I didn't drive great.

And a couple of better pics of the donor:

                              • Had a much better day at the track this weekend! The track was much better suited to my car's level and I was a lot more aggressive. It was also a much smaller event, so I probably made 40 passes and felt like I progressed a good bit.
