  • Took some pics of the interior. Still need to make some floor pan plates, but otherwise done.

A clunk that got much worse on the way back from Wekfest prompted some maintenance. The car and all the parts looked to be in good condition, but I went ahead and replaced everything.

After a few hours of waving a magic wand over it:

    Disassembled and powerwashed everything

Powerwashed bottom side of chassis. Wish I would have put down some undercoat, but will have to do that next time.

My amazing friend Clay helped me press in new differential bushings (x3), subframe bushings (x4) and rear trailing arm bushings (x2). Here's the RTAB with poly limiters that are supposed to stiffen things up a bit.

Painted subframe, upper control arms, sway bar, brake rotors and brake carriers.

    Painted calipers black.

Cleaned up everything that wasn't getting painted (before/after)

5mm of steering rack spacers for a little more angle.

    Still need to:
-install new front control arms w/ ball joints
    -finish installing new tie rods
-install new front control arm mounts.
    -weld differential
-weld in chassis reinforcement for subframe mounts
    -install ebay camber arms

    • Great job getting all that suspension maintenance knocked out. I hope it gets rid of the klunk. I like that you took the time to clean up under there too.

Thanks, man! I think I diagnosed the clunk as the subframe studs backing out some. I ordered new ones and all bushings are new, so it should sort it out.

With all new parts and the reinforcement, I'm ready to slide it without fearing a big failure.

Front got new control arms, mounts and tie rods.

              • Lots of shiney . But what is that black tube thing with silver rings? You motivated me to pull the entire front off the car today to clean up and polish some things. I even diagnosed an electrical problem...I dislike you for making me work today. Great progress by you though!

Not really. Working on my truck, so I can use it as a tow rig to drift events next year. Also shopping for some drift wheels. Test fit a friend's e39 style5s and liked they way they fit (have spacers for rear).

I do have a few new pics! Thanks to DTek for these first two.
