Have to say really impressed with the E-tech paint! I have a nice plan now too for the centre caps to create some nice interest on them so the middle of the wheel wont look too thick?! Involves a good 'ol more bit of machining, but Im willing to give it a go
With 2 wheels painted I needed a break from the fumes and to be outside in this glorious weather decided to revisit and old mod I had planned with these 323 rear spats modded to fit the front. Happy I decided to do so as I got one side pretty much mounted Albeit a dent in the Sill putting paid to a nice smooth line and have nowhere to bolt down the tip end to (Maybe some velcro and/or trim tape needed?!)
Had to do alot of cutting to get these up and fitted right, will do a how to guide somewhen but you basically just end up with an L shape spat.
Bodged on there a good 'un and badly painted, but hey fuck it they fit!
Thanks man had dismissed white for quite along time for being too motorsport looking, but I think with the polished lip really pull's it away from that.
Yet to decide on center cap design, I could make up some flat ones or polish the originals.
Just had to pay another £57 to get my clutch out of customs and delivered to me! So here it is now, on the dining room table!
SPEC racing clutch good enough for 220 lb/ft of Torque but with all the manners of a road clutch
Have also finally decided a wheel colour to go with, well it's not techniacally a colour if that gives you a clue?!
Yeah I guess grey is more understated & classic more in keeping with this car?! Tbh we had wondered if Gold would be too 70's/Iron man looking on here for a DD.
After four days with no proper tea or lunch breaks I has all of them ready for paint
One of them has a small pit mark on the lip full of filler, don't know what to do about that (silver paint pen?) or leave it till I refurb them again with some weld filler..Apart from that I'm really happy with them.
not sure exactly what's going to happen with the centre badges or what colour bolt in valves, looking at yellow/gold colour at the moment.
Got this one ready for paint now after a quick lunchtime emery & paraffin session. Also I spent 5hrs on Saturday sorting out my Mum's garage where I used to live to do the spraying in. Not quite finished with the polish yet I guess a bit of autosol wouldn't go a miss...and this is worst alloy for having a slightly bent edge where the cutting tip missed it and few curb dents here & there.
Right back to work now after an awesome week off and they have fixed my turning lathe. As we are quite quiet at the moment thought I was a good for some homework. Time to give this car the nice & sexy wheels She deserves, so I decided to machine the dish on them, so they will have polished/machined dishes & lips with gold centers.
Only took a very light skim, have 3 more to do like this then I will reset the machine to skim the outer lip and put them on the hand lathe and blend the radius and create a nice bead on the outer edge. Will edit more pics into this post as I progress with them.
