    Long time since last update.

The car has been off the road for a little while in my gararge,

With no point in selling it as its worth nothing and no desire to drive it I was a bit unsure what to do with it, came close to breaking it.
The fact of the matter is this- its performance doesnt match its looks. The only option is a 944 turbo, but to buy one in this condition and colour would be 5-6k. Problem here is that if I had 5-6k I wouldnt buy a 944 turbo.
So.. engine transplant? the best deals ive seen are £1400 to 1800 for an engine pack on a pallet - no thanks.

But don't forget the 2.5 n/a is the engine the turbo was based on, so how hard can it be to "boost" it?
I bought this collection of parts to kick things off. Bargain £200.

    This turbo sump

    Exhaust manifold-

Which joins to the crossover pipe (notice external wastegate flange)

I hope to get a wastegate this weekend.

The above pipes to this K26 turbo

Notice its complete with downpipe, engine mount, & coolant pipes

turbo inlet manifold was required to clear the turbo, and is colmpete with tps and throttle body.

You were talking about using the NA gearbox with the turbo engine.

Then i can tell you that the -83 944 i have, uses the same setup you are aiming for. Turbo engine with NA gearbox. The engine has upgraded chips, exhaust, WG etc. and has about 280hp. This setup has been running as a daily drive for about 10 years now and the gearbox is still strong

Since the NA gearbox has shorter gears than the turbo, it makes 0-60 ALOT faster. Personally tested it against my -90 951 (250bhp)

The only downside for me is that the NA gearbox is without the limited slip differential. So if you manage to find a NA gearbox with the LSD, that would be a killer!

Looking forward to see the engine assembled! Hope you realize the potential in this car when you put the engine together, and then decide not to sell it

Thanks Rannem, thats good to know, i was worried about the box, do you know the max power you can put through a factory turbo clutch?

                  todays parts-

                  Pistons, with pins and rings.

Injector rail with greens and 3 bar regulator

Turbo oil feed, I just checked my n/a block and it has a blanking allen bolt where this needs to go - no drilling required!

Breather pot with extra breather for engine mount (as the oil return goes through it)

There are plenty of hoses and heat sheilds ect given to me by porsche dave, but no realy worth a photo..another batch £100!

Just because my gearbox works fine with this setup, doesnt mean it is a rock solid solution.. But if i were you, i would go for it

About the clutch.. I have read that 400hp (at the flywheel) is at the edge of what a stock turbo clutch can hold So i think you should be just fine going with a stock one.. Considering that you wouldnt be able to crack 400hp with the setup you are aming for, sorry

I know some 951 drivers upgrade the clutch with a pressure plate from the 930. Wich wil keep the stock feeling, but holds against more hp. So ive heard..

You should check out www.forums.rennlist.com (if you havent) to clear out your tech questions! Great site, with great amount of knowledge about the 944/951

Like the new update! Keep the progress flowing!!

No worries on the box, ive got spare n/a boxes. If it dies it dies...

Interesting piont about the clutch, my old 944 tbo was 290hp and it would slip a little on a hard launch, maybe the clutch was on its way out. (a lot of the parts on this are from that car)

300hp is plenty, to go more is at great cost and im doing this as a cheap project, if i spend too much i wont be able to sell it on.

I do go on rennlist, not much though.

Im not 100% sure about that 400hp is the edge for the stock clutch.. Just some guy on rennlist who posted it

Anyways.. Im running about 280hp on mine, and my clutch does not slip at all.. Not sure how long ago it were changed last time. Pretty sure im running stock on mine.

How many hp are you aming for with your setup?

I have a wastegate on its way, so just a few bits to collect now.

Thanks guys for comments, pushes the mojo..
