thanks everyone.
decided that one of the "big projects" is going to start now since I dont have enough projects going on. haha I have a serious problem
The tt motor that i have on the stand disassembled is going to finally be the part mock up motor that i have been planning for it to be.
This new "big project" i speak of will make a little more sense soon, but for now, i have a lot of prep work to get things on track to start the major fabrication: Ill explain more once I get most of this stuff done and out of the way
-lower intake manifold needs to be honed by hand to fit the new fab work which will sit atop it- already in process
-valve covers (intake side) need to both be modified and smoothed- might possibly design and produce billet valve covers
-new coil pack design to mount them far lower on the motor. so as to no longer be mounted to the upper intake manifold.
-new design of an aluminum mount for such coil packs
-figure out how to route wires to even tuck them further out of view.
and then the fab work can commence/ This project will likely be a slow process, during spare time, taking most of the year or so to actually complete. But im in no rush, and not touching my own car, so who cares. it can take as long as it needs..
Its good to have a second motor for mocking up ideas on. So far it has far outweighed lugging it here and disassembling it. And its about to get a whole lot more work done on it.
people often laugh when they see that the motor that i mock up parts on is a TT block, and im building the original NA motor. The motor on the stand is sort of the parts whore, for things like using the freer flowing heads as cores for the head work when i did my motor build, and checking tolerances on parts i fab for it. so much easier then disassembling whats sitting in a perfect bay.Last edited by 1badg35; 12-24-2012, 01:29 PM.sigpic

Got a bit antsy between dinner courses last night, so I went out to the garage for a few minutes of scheming. And as a result, the wiring project is going to be happening this winter as well..
since I started the coolant sensor relocation, and need to extend a few wires, why not go all out and get the rest of the harness inside that driver side frame rail... things should get interestingsigpic

If you had a full pm box on a weekly basis, you too would have to pick and choose who to respond to. Fortunately I have a full time job as a senior architect, which would be like having two full time jobs. Oh and I also run a design company in the after hours.
So yeah please forgive me if it takes me a few days to respond to some people's pms. Haha
Some people need to do a solid minute of research to have found their answers, and those are typically the only ones i straw away from answering, again due to the fact that I am only one person
And with that said, I typically try to be as helpful as physically possible with regard to questions. Most of the guys on here probably agree. I've sent very long pm responses many many times before to help someone who was looking for it.Last edited by 1badg35; 12-26-2012, 04:47 PM.sigpic

I don't know you personally sir (or even your name.. mi llamo Eugene), but i can tell that you aren't some stuck up your butt guy. Every time i mention something on this thread, you always respond and any questions or suggestion you always answer; whether you're answering direct or indirectly. So, your character has never been in question IMO.

FWIW, I did pm you months ago about buying some RS bolts and centre caps, and got no reply.
But I completely understand how hard it can be to stay on top of pm's. I was kiddin' around, but I'm sure you're not losing sleep over my comment anyway lolGod bless this mess

dont mind the old picture. these are the last two wires that run to the motor. other then the coil packs and injectors that is..
always right in the center of view... That needs to change
and this step would be to make these disappear.
So i called a buddy, and asked him if he wanted my coolant hardpipes since they were just powdercoated and i didnt want to chop them up and waste a clean piece. Gave them to him as a christmas present. I got a pair of ones in original shape (horrible condition) and started on the madness.
random picture of what stock ones look like with the sensor bungs (sensors and wires removed obviously)
ugh... dirty
threw them in my blasting cabinet. gave them a once over to remove the pitting and junk. Then took the angle grinder and chopped the two bungs off of the upper pipe. A little tig welding and grinding, and we were here:
left the shop, and went back to the house. now for the fun part. smoothing
removed all of the casting marks, cleaned up the area welded shut, smoothed some of the spots in the aluminum with the flapper wheels, and brought it down to a 320 grit with the palm sander to finish
then back to the blasting cabinet. some baking soda, and a little effort, and this is where they are at:
dont mind the pitting at the ends. need to hit them with the same treatment and then decide whether i want to weld on some -20 AN fittings and go the black braided nylon over braided stainless route or not. Not quite sure yet which i want to do next.
test fit just to get a look for what this will look like without those ugly wires and sensors right in view
so much better... now for that decision, and then these can get prepped and back for some wrinkle black powdercoat
now to tackle the next step... sensors being relocated to the end tank of the new triple core radiator.. that will have to wait till next weekend after christmas i think.
more to come
Follow the ways of 1badg35, execution is paramount.

So i decided against the braided coolant line because they dont make -20an in black braided, just stainless. and clearly that wont work..
radiator is going under the knife this weekend. I will update progress on saturday with that.
And then comes the wiring task. I dislike wiring which is why:
a. i dont want to see it
b. i dont usually take pictures of me doing it.
i just find it boring, although i go through the same ocd moments with it. this time around, I plan on redoing the whole harness that goes toward the front driverside headlight, in attempt to get the entire thing inside the frame rail. Not entirely sure how its going to go until i start working on it. soon though.sigpic

I love the determination and patience you have for this z32 (well the little that you have). I think this is/wil be the greatest modified z32 of all time... "Mark my words," Nissan will have a part in this car's appreciation.

damn, if only I knew a few days ago. The parts are already in for powder, but I may build a second one of the upper coolant pipe with the same work done to accept AN so i could swap if need be. Thanks for the info though. Didnt think any did the braided nylon in -20
have a centerlock E88 face in my room right now, and I am really liking the look of this wheel... These things are no joke. I love the way they carved out the pockets in the spokes the way that they did
trying to imagine this with a 5" or 6" lip on it, and face mounted not rear mount like this particular face...Last edited by 1badg35; 12-28-2012, 01:43 PM.sigpic
