  • I would love a ride in this car, I'm not far and I'll bring my Gopro Hero2 for you to use!

    Comment

    • That could definitely be arranged. Unfortunately the car is now "away" for the winter, but it will be out soon enough. The plan next year is to enjoy it. The projects will constantly be happening, but i definitely do want to drive her more.

And yeah, I need a few cruising videos. My buddy actually bought a camera drone, and I was figuring we would get a few go pros, and shoot the cars cruising through the area. I dont think we have ever had the group of cars all out at once. Mostly because we all own more cars then we can drive at once, but I guess that can be figured out..

          • cage is decided to be the blackened steel. I like the fact that it doesnt slap you in the face with color in this case, and it certainly will be a discussion piece when people see the depth of the finish on the cage.

now for the interior to come out again in preparation..

Also might have found the next DD. nothing like I was ever expecting although I have always had a soft spot for these cars. If I pick it up this weekend, a new build thread will surface for the new DD

              • its in the same family of cars as this build... It will be a budget DD but should be a blast. have some ideas up my sleeve

If i gave its age I would be giving it away, so i will leave that out for now.

                • Managed to get my hands on a few rare parts for the exterior of the Z which will likely make their way onto the car this spring. Looks like it will be about 2-3 months before I see these parts.

Cage paint work and prep is going to start as soon as I get some time. Been building lots of sets of wheels in the night hours, and havent done much on the Z other then stare at her. Cage is going to be the blackened steel look with the tinted clear btw. Decided on that for sure. Now, just have to execute it.

Sold my 10-22 canon lens, and am about to buy a 17-40l, so pics will be up soon of new things as i want to mess around with the new lens..

There are a lot of other cars it could be, but I'm going to guess anyways, especially because the age part, a 510?

I've followed this build from the beginning and just never commented on it until now. Everything is stunning, especially the motor work. The attention to detail is what puts this build above all others, for me anyways.

Also, I think the blackened steel is the best choice for the cage. I like the idea of it kinda "blending in" with the rest of the interior, but when you get looking at it close with the interior panel fitment, it'll look like it's been there since the factory.

                    Great work, carry on.

                    • I can relate ^ to what he said. Your craftsmanship and execution is far superior than 99.9 % of the builds circulating on here (IMO) I absolutely love your car and this build as a whole.

I'll guess either 240z/280z/280zx or a Z31, only because you have an eye for classix. I know the z31 turbo with leather package is one of the most sexiest z produced. So, money money is on on the 300zx Z31

                      • its a '73 240z, but i am about 50/50 whether im picking it up or not.. Its a fun one though, as it has a built 280zx motor swapped in and a nice little turbo kit. should be a blast to drive. We will see in a few days if it will happen, but so far not so good.

                          • yeah we will see. All i know is that i am not yet ready for an additional project car. when I get a new house I have always wanted the next project to be a late 60s porsche 911, so if i were to get the 240z, it would likely be a short term driver and something to sell next fall. Although I have a feeling I will have a hard time parting with it... = hesitation to purchase. haha

I also am having slight hesitation going from an audi S4 v8 with all the luxuries to a 70s daily.

                            But we will see.

For now the only fairlady in my garage will be the one in these past 21 pages of the build thread. haha

                            • Yeah, that's a big concern. Especially, since the z31 following and sales market isn't in the highest demand. I would love for you to tear into that, but like you said it's more of a dd small build deal. Maybe build a bike or something that wouldn't take from the z32 main project... Isn't this going to to be getting a vg30dett soon too?

                              • No I have no interest in a Tt swap. This motor has every aspect of it fully built, has 60k original (about 5k since the full 10.5/1 build) with this car, and I am an NA guy. When the forced induction project happens, it's going to be a procharger unit fabbed up. Already planned some of it. Built the motor so I could very easily run her at 6-7psi for ever with no worries if I ever decided to go the supercharger route. Won't happen for a few winters though. House first.

I have a TT motor on a stand in the garage and I only use it for mocking up parts and designs on. Lol. No interest in taking the easy route here. The built motor already makes more power then a stock TT anyway. Took an insane amount of work, but the original goal was to do a full NA built aiming for 300wheel. I'm only about 10% off at this point from that number
