After being away from your thread for awhile.. Was killing time in Walmart so I figured I would flip through the magazines. Saw your car and had to come check your updates. Good show on the feature! :P

Just thought I'd let you know what an inspiration this build is. I wish I had some powerful story for why I love these cars, but the truth is that my love sprung from playing Gran Turismo as a kid. Since then I've dreamed of owning one, cranked my neck as one cruised by, even felt a slight twinge of jealousy when someone I knew bought one. Even today, I check local classifieds to see if one has come up for sale in my area.
I could only dream of owning one and giving it a worthy treatment as you have.God bless this mess

I really appreciate the comments. It's been a long project, and no end in sight.
Show is actually on aug 26 and it's wekfest nj that I was speaking of.
I think I missed my deadline of that show for the cage, but it will start going together likely the day after the show. Lol. Not trying to rush it. I did finish the cad design for it though and I think it should look pretty sweet. I will post pics when my iMac gets back from apple.sigpic

Saw your reply on aus300zx forum. Stella build mate. I can really appreciate the time and effort this has demanded from you, and you've still kept it fresh and current. I'm trying to do a similar engine bay but with a TT while retaining AC and power steering. Definitely has given me a kick in the motivation dept. seeing your engine bay complete (for now, I know how it is lol).
Just two questions as I see you make reference to this a few times. Where have you read that number 6 intake runner has a restriction? I can see it really is a munted shape in OEM form, and I have more experience with TT's over NA's admittedly, but I've constantly read the number 6 cylinder is the one to run lean (ie too much air, given the fuel mapping remains constant for all cylinders). I'm keen to do the same kind of mod to mine still, just never heard that theory.
Another thing I don't quite understand is the removal of the PCV. How are you scavenging blow-by gases from the crankcase, and also reducing the buildup of pressure inside the sump without them? How about the possibility of oil drain-back restriction to the sump if you have a build-up of pressure in the crankcase?

its actually getting too little of both from my own personal experience on my car. flow of fuel on the stock rail starves the last cylinder as we all know, and the air flow seems to be also doing something similar once i modified the entire fuel system and did the dual feed routing (most recently). When tuning, it became apparent to me after I did the dual feed setup that i needed to modify and get a little more air in there to even out things for that cylinder in particular.. she still runs just the slightest bit rich, but thats not a problem in my book. With that said, the car is going to change quite a bit more, so tuning will have to go with that.. and as of now, she runs spectacularly well and pulls some very healthy power. Have to dyno again, but this time as it sits, i am expecting 270 rwhp which is amongst the highest NAs. we will see though at some point once i make the next round of changes.
the pcv thing in my head is all a myth. after a few years the system gets clogged and doesnt function anyway, so i started blocking things off until i decided on entire removal of the system. I have a small internal filter that i placed inside the valve covers behind the baffles (intake side) but otherwise thats all. a little oil smell occasionally since they basically breath to atmosphere, which doesnt bother me. there are a few guys on 3zc that have been running their cars for years with exactly that setup, and have not had any internal issues over time. Which was part of the reason why i was ok with going this route. again experimental, but seems perfectly fine by me so far.
before this, my pcv valves were brand new from nissan and were letting slight amounts of oil pass through them, so that for me was a major telltale sign that things needed to change. so i did a bunch of reading, and formed some of my own thoughts. but again its experimental to an extent.sigpic

You're right when you say the engine just floats there. Such a good look

A little more cleaning up.. Removed the old radiator, new 3 core koyo to replace it. Then found out that my E fan setup that i had spent so much time work on was too large for the width of this radiator, so things needed to be figured out. So rather then modifying the e fans more, and probably never being happy with them, I decided to get 2 custom ones made that were a slightly smaller diameter (10" this time) and take my chances. They now pull in conjunction 3600cfm, which is slightly more then before, and they are smaller in every dimension. Haha
finished it off by doing some more wire tucking, a new aluminum 1.5qt overflow unit that i mounted along the frame rail under the passenger headlight, a new bracket to hold down the radiator, modifying said bracket as it needed some simplification, and here she is.
bracket now needs to go for powdercoat(wrinkle black) , as does the new hood prop (old one doesnt clear the filler neck on the new rad) and that will be all set.
Drove her hard on Sunday morning to make sure all was good, and all was good. as expected, runs cooler then before with the new upgrades.sigpic
