So with the removal of the hood latch, why are you sacrificing the aesthetic of the car's exterior for a detail in the engine bay?
-
nope. german was the correct answer. already pretty much planned it all out down to color schemes, what work will be done, etc. it will be a 40 year old daily driver/race car when complete with the heart of a current vehicle from the same lineup of cars
it wont be until i find a clean shell, so it may take some time to source.
progress
so i temporarily sat the fenders and front fascia on the car so i could see how the area looks before the smoothing. perfect
you get the idea of what i was going for. now there is no odd missing area formed around the latch area. Much much cleaner and smoother.
going to paint today if all goes well
should basically look like this quick render I did a few weeks back....
back to another thing i started but havent had the time to finish. the cowls..
some fiberglassing in order to smooth out the whole piece and remove the area surrounding the wiper holes
resin stage
smoothing sanding smoothing sanding
quick mock up in some gray primer. now i have to sand a bit more to smooth it out a little further, and then hit it with some high build primer, knock that down to smooth, and then some paint can come
almost getting there. sortaLast edited by 1badg35; 04-22-2013, 08:56 AM.

I really wish you would pick up a 280z, I'd love to see what you could do with that. I am actually going to be sad this nearing completion. Twin turbo with a shaved bay? Oh god that will look great

yeah it never will end.. already planning all of the work for this coming winter. It will be slowing down though. A set of one off wheels (the final set for the car) , some new 7000 series aluminum hubs (custom one off) and a few little things here and there. We were toying with the idea of doing a twin turbo kit mounted at the front of the car under the front fascia out of view, but i would much rather start the second project in a year or two after this house construction
with that said, as you can tell the car is slowly nearing completion... already working toward sourcing the project car to go along side of this in the garageLast edited by 1badg35; 04-19-2013, 10:22 AM.

Glad I waited so long to check back up on this thread. I got to see 3 whole pages of new content. Still love everything. Still glad there's more to come.

I am surprised you don't sleep in your car at times. The amount of love you show this thing is something I want to show my car one day.

Been lurking and drooling over this build for some time now and LOVE the attention to detail along with the semi-anal retentiveness of it all. Don't know if I saw this anywhere else but what are your plans for holding the hood down now that the OEM hood latch is not there? Plus, what does the underside of the hood now look like?

Very nice.
Build is absolutely incredible as always, you're a good motivator for me to get back to tearing down my Prelude. Keep up the great work.
