Rusty's smaller, older Japanese sister .. . Datsun 510 content
What made you choose square beams rather than a tubular chasis if you planned on completely rebuilding from frame up? Does this add weight or will it make the car lighter in the end ? sorry if these questions seem "dumb"
The new "frame" rails are 2x2" 0.065 1/16"th thick, square tube .... replacing alot of 22ag floors, and slightly thicker frame rails
I'm not going to act like I know what I'm doing, alot of the reason I post this project is to get advice/new ideas.. Someday I'll "body drop" an E36 or E46 and ruin the world .. The Datsuns are just practice for how to photograph or fabricate,, this car will probably NEVER be safe/legal, but IDGAF .... I've driven weaker rusted out 510's .... I cut out alot more weight in rusted metal than I've added so far (the whole "car" is probably 350-500lbs)

I don't have any 15x8 or wider mock up wheels .... and I need to make front mini-tubs ... hopefully I can fiit 15x8.5 -6 fronts and keep the 16x9 -13 rears
I've been dreaming about a non turbo CA18DE RWD 89-90 180sx motor for over 5 years . I've literally been looking on ebay for that long, and 5 years ago almost got an Automatic, thinking there were no 5speed non turbos .... well I was wrong:
Keeping it in the Nissan family I see. I always did like CA18's. Kind of an underdog, underrated motor. And I feel like you could sell off all the rotas and buy a matching pair of wats for the front. A car with this much work deserves it.
