Fairly reliable...it's got 260k on the clock. Big things don't go wrong with it...it's always the little shit. Currently the drivers seat will go forwards, and will recline, but wont go backwards or have the seatback come back up. Dumb shit like that. Mechanically they're great.

          • so i fucked up while trying to plastidip the front bumper again...im a fucking winner.

Plastidip can is black...but I guess the first part of it came out gray for some reason...you can see the white paint at the bumper corner...I'll need to pull the bumper off and do it all again...driving around bumperless is pretty fun though.

Btw, something that was brought up today while I was at the gym...when I lower the car again before h2o, it will exponentially increse the chance of complete strut failure, in which the top of the strut will shear off, or blow a hole through my hood...any simple ways to avoid a fatal blow?

i do plan on getting real coilovers for the damn thing over winter too.

              • I'm not to sure how the strut would blow a hole through your hood.
                Could you elaborate?

                • I am far lower, I think I have 3 full coils remaining on my front springs, and I deal with shit ass vt roads daily. Have yet to blow a shock out. You'll be fine.
BTW I'm insanely jealous of the se kit. Another "bumper tuck" option is to drill holes in the bumper shocks and push it inward. There isn't a whole lot of info on it out there, but I think a turbobricks search will help.
**Edit. The tuck won't work with se bumpers, only the stock 7xx ones, as some of the "accordian" needs to be cut out. Sorry. Looks like you got.it sorted tho.

I need to move the whole bumper beam back about 3/4 of an inch, haha. I drilled holes into the stock shocks this weekend, and they didn't compress at all, oh well.

They are only supposed to compress if you impact something. You won't be able to compress them by hand.

But since you already have decompressed them from gas, you can always shorten them. Well not quite as much as I did, as I was going to mount a V90 bumper on mine, but it's the same principle.

Just cut it off, shorten it the desired lenght, and weld it back together.

Wasn't thinking I was gonna like the SE bumper thingy but in matte black plastidip it turned out to be kinda cool. Waiting for more!

                          Cheers
