  • \OP your car is badass and you should keep up the good work building it. Id be interested in seeing what it ran on a dyno, or the drag strip when you are finished.

    • got the intake manifold bolted down and sealed up, and test fitted the valve covers, just waiting on some ARP hardware for them then they can get bolted down as well. now I can start doing wiring, making fuel lines, set up the throttle cable, and do a bunch of other misc stuff.

        • Been really busy the past few days working on underhood stuff.

First up was the mil spec engine harness. That took 3 days just to make. However the end result was well worth it. Sorry for the dark pictures.

          main harness

intake air temp and the throttle position sensor were run under the manifold.

map sensor and oxygen sensor wiring

coil, coolant temp and oil press sensors

The injector harness required the most work, because I want to keep the whole bay free from wiring in addition to keeping the fuel injection as stealth as possible I decided to turn the injectors around so that the clips were on the inside. However this created clearance problems with the center 4 injectors, the solution......honda civic injector clips which were smaller. I also was having problems with the injector clips hitting the wiring. So that was solved with a normal 3/4 carb spacer which also fixed my clearance problems with my distributor. This allowed me to run the harness along the side of the fuel rail, which makes the harness nearly invisible once the air cleaner is on.

Next up was the fuel system. I converted it all to 6AN. Originally I wanted to use nickel plated push lock fittings, however due to lack of angle selection I went with Mr gasket shadow fittings which Im very happy with.

first off the fuel pressure regulator.(also notice the hole where the old engine harness came out.)

          and the lines

Normally I see everyone run the crossover hose right in front of the distributor which looked tacky and stuck out like a sore thumb to me, So I ran mine behind it instead.

Last up was the Heater hoses, On every old mustang/ small block ford I've seen people always just lay heater hoses right over the valve cover which again looks horrible. So I converted it to 10AN also using the same fittings/ hose as the fuel system. Ive never seen this done before.

The final result is a clean clutter free engine bay. Everything still has to be buttoned down but here's what it will look like when its done.

          • It LIVES! got the car running tonight. I didn't have the coolant hoses or the throttle cable hooked up so I couldn't drive it. However it sounds real strong, the throttle response is ridiculous! Its so snappy. Ill tie up the loose ends tomorrow or the next day and hopefully get it out for a ride, no hood of course haha

              • I spent that last couple days building and adjusting the throttle cable set up. I started with a universal Lokar cable and modified it to fit.

the first issue being the 67 mustang never came with a throttle cable but with a throttle linkage , so I had a 69 gas pedal in the parts box that would work a bit better. I had to cut off the factory end and make my own to work with the Lokar cable tho.

                stock

                mine

cut the cable/ housing to fit on my bracket I made.

one thing I liked about the lokar cable is that it had tons of adjustment on both ends of the cable and the housing. So this allowed me to not only adjust where the throttle started/ ended but also the pedal height. Once this was done and I had the pedal where I wanted it I decided it was too soft, so I needed to add a return spring, after trying a couple different lengths and resistances I found one I was happy with. So not only are the pedals more even( before the gas pedal was way down and the clutch stuck out.) but the amount of pressure needed is exactly what I want. This should make the car much more enjoyable to drive now.

                • got the car on the road today, Still a few loose ends to be squared away but otherwise its good. Car sounds more healthy, runs smooth, the throttle response is amazing and over all it pulls real nice.

Cops must be lax around there. I drove for 2 min with no hood and got pulled over

Badass car, sounds good. Whats up with the custom wires? For the right length and less mess?

                            • yea ive put about 200 miles on the car with no hood. Ive driven by a good amount of cops too.

got the last fitting for the heater hose and got that on, I also put a fresh coat of paint on the engine bay, I decided to go with a dark charcoal rather than flat black like everyone else. At this point its pretty much done, I have a set of headers im gonna install and do some other little odds and ends to tidy up some stuff, Once I pull this motor I will fully shave the bay and weld up all of the holes but for the most part that's it.
