I love what you've done! I've been creeping around here for a bit but never made an account..I've sort of followed your build and can't wait to see where you end up. I'm kind of excited since I can actually comment on it now. Really really good work though. I can't stress how well you're doing this. Love it.
Hopefully you'll be able to share notes on the wiring plugs that you need to make and how you blended the two as I'm sure a lot of people are curious.
With that said great build, but this is stance so drop this bish low already! Haha
If someone else is doing the swap and needs some guidance with wiring I have no problem lending a helping hand. And the suspension is already planned out, and will be ordered after the car is painted....I will be LOW!
Just joined this forum for this build, awesome work mate, i've just started my 87' 318i build (pulling out the stock stuff on weekends) and am still undecided between the 1j and sr20, quick question what model did your engine and box' come from ?because there is about 3 sump and 4 shifter locations and it's got me stumpped.. and leaning towards a easier s14a sr20det vct half cut. Wicked style but i love Alpinas for the wheels myself.. Keep goin and good luck!!

Thanks man. I used the engine from a chaser (front sump) and an r154 transmission from a jza70 supra..shifter almost lines up perfectly.....If I had to do it over, I would have gone with the sr20 route..the only reason being the weight savings in the front end. With the heavy cast iron 1jz, turning is going to be a bit of an issue.
Btw, scratched my bag last night... for probably 10 minutes straight... then I sat in your car and pretended I was drifting, holding your wheel and shift knob etc.
Bought an SR last night, came in at the right price so it begins. Do you by any chance still have the wiring diagram for the 318? yours shouldn't be too different being a left hook would it? Pretty amped after reading this, keen to get greasy this weekend!!
