This is why i asked, a 2002 strut housing is welded to the knuckle with the spindle on it, so no matter where you move the the top or the bottom of the strut assembly the clearance of your wheel lip to the strut housing will remain the same.

Not trying to criticize at all, just trying help you avoid unnecessary work.

no worries man I appreciate you taking the time to explain this. So even if I moved the the whole strut assembly inward towards the engine (create new mounts on top) it will not change the camber and the geometry will remain same? from my understanding it will extend the angle and allow for the extra few mms, but if I'm wrong I would love to know.

If you move the whole strut assembly inward towards the engine the camber (measured at the wheel) will change directly proportional to how much you move it. What does not change is the clearance between your inner wheel lip and the strut housing.

Adding more negative camber via the strut top (as you suggest) will give you more tire to fender clearance. You will always need that 10mm spacer if your inner wheel lip barely clears the strut with it on.

I hope i am explaining this clearly.

            • ok thank you I'm still trying to understand the cause and effect of changing the angles. Heres a picture off my phone of the area I need to move apart.

              • yeah bright white is vey tempting.

bright white with jet black accents.
wheel color would have to be changed, but it would be really easy to do and fix.

That has a simple solution, get a shorter spring , remove wheel spacer.

                  • no its not actually hitting the collar. The inner wheel lip touches the shock tube not the coil perch. shorter springs will not change anything. the picture is with a 10mm spacer on it.

                    • This thread literally got me hooked on this forum. You're a really talented dude, could never see myself doing half of this with the car never leaving the house. Next time I ever think of taking the p*ssy way out of putting my mods on myself, I'm just gonna look here.

                      • I guess the angle of the pic through me off.

Either way, you are going to need at least enough wheel spacer to keep your inner wheel lip off your strut housing or whatever it hits first. Moving your strut assembly around, however you do it, will not affect that clearance.

                        • I love white. I don't see why you would have to change the wheel color if you went with white.

                          • LJ851 is right, adding camber plates won't effect the wheel to strut tube relationship. if no spacers hits and 10mm is too much, can't you just run some 3mm or 5mm spacers? from the pic it looks like you have lots of room. can you take a pic with no spacers to show where/how it contacts?

i guess the other option (however a bit more dodgy... haha) is to get a few mm machined off the back of the wheel edge? with stretched tyres that part of the wheel does next to nothing structurally anyway (disclaimer: don't hold me liable to this if something went wrong. as said above, this is a 'quick n nasty' fix, which i would consider doing but its something you'd have to make your own mind up on)

                            • Thanks for the clarification^ I'm just waiting for my new fenders to come. I bought 4 of these (2 rear right 2 rear left)

hopefully they are wide enough for my rear wheels. For the front I get to cut them to size so I can get them at a perfect width to fit the front in and run in the future 3-5mm spacers.

Back from the mountains..... suffering, but if I'm feeling up to it I'm going to get back to sanding in the morning. I just need to finalize a color!

Bright White or Jet Black (I'm 50/50 can't pick one for the life of me)

                              • white for sure, a satin white would look ill

plus, for a do it yourself paint, pretty sure materials are cheaper and I know process is less intense to get the paint to look proper
