I also mounted the power window switches in the perfect location. Well hidden away, but easily accessible. It's just under the console on each side. This is the passenger's. If you look closely, you can just see it in one of the previous shots.

I also went up front and mounted the emblem as a floating unit. It's set back about half the depth of the heart. Not too deep. Yet not all in your face.

        • awesome build! how's the front/rear weight ratio? as spiders are already pretty tailhappy cars with the light nord block in the front?

Thanks chuckie! I have not corner weighed it yet. But I believe it to be around the 2500 area. I have a good amount of stiffness built into all the known key areas to handle the stress. Followed up with seriously uprated suspension pieces on Alfa's 3.6 LSD that was shimmed 50%. But I am fully aware that this punched out 3.7L from the 164 is gonna break that rear end loose without much trouble!!

Lots of late nights going through several different concepts on the console and lower dash. The main reason for this was leg room. But also that I was not satisfied any longer with the current set-up. Some concepts stand the test of time. This one did not. I knew I could do better.

After a couple weeks I went in another direction all together and deleted the entire console in favor of finding a part I had been looking for. The Spider's shifter is on the main dash and I love it's position there - no trouble reaching it. But a company I've known about just released one of their latest products and I knew I had my answer.

Here's a real crappy Iphone shot at one of many all-nighters I had to pull to get to this stage. So much tweaking to get it right. But I managed. Shot taken just after 6am - hour 10 for the day. Dusty in suede but mocked in - the glove box door will complete the lines.

Taking center stage will be one of these. It's a remote shifter. No they are not new by an stretch. It's just that IMO, all others I've seen were quite ugly. Not this one. It's very elegant and will now become the focal point of the interior. Getting an all black one. Patent on ths bad-boy.

              Shifter1

              Benefits:

Shortens the throws from 7 inches to 2.
Raise the collar and throws become even shorter and crisper
Fully adjustable base to control the feel or the shifter - from loose to full notch.
Developed exclusively for the Alfa Romeo 105 trans.

              Here's one installed:

Why the all-nighters? Cause when your trimmer that's been there for you since day one never forgot how much you need him calls, you do what you have to.

This day was literally over 5 years in the making. A monumental day. Having said that, my main transporter Joe came by with his dad and we loaded her up and headed to Terry's.

No issues. Just the usual Benny Hill music playing during the shuffle 2x4 board loading. Like most here, that's nothing new. But it does crack me up everytime!

Joe on the other hand just shakes his head and cusses me out till we both die of laughter. I swear today, we both must of hit the floor 4-5 times with all the jokes flying and trading stories over the past few weeks.

Just look how mean those diffuser spikes and deck lid look!! Off to see the wizard!

                IMG_0541

We arrived not too long after and I brought Terry up to speed.

                IMG_0547

                On the docket:

                - Fitting the new top on my reconditioned frame that Terry did 4 years ago.
                - Installing b-pillar covers and top clips
                - Fitting carpet
                - Fitting door panels
                - Fitting exterior trim
                - Wrapping glove box door
                - Fitting door/trunk seals
                - Adjusting driver seat to the left an inch
                - Installing passenger seat
                - Wrap steering column cover

I on the other hand, aside from finishing the lower dash:

                - Installed the wipers that were bent, out of alignment and replaced missing hardware
                - Installed a new driver side latch and striker.
                - Aligned both doors (doors now gets it's two clicks)
                - Secured wiper cowl and chrome base trim molding
                - Adjust power locks for smoother function
                - Source custom glass shop for new upcoming door glass (goodbye vent window)
                - Install missing center rear light lateral tab
                - Tidy up wiring under dash
                - Plum vacuum line for GoTech EMS
                - Source larger, sharper blind spot camera screens
                - Installed new rear view mirror
                - Installed fresh red vinyl on folding air channel deflectors
                - Plus a few more minor details that go along with any build at this stage

btw, stiffening a 105 makes it even more tailhappy! think this will be a whole lot of fun to drive though!

makes me want to swap engines in my alfa now..

                          • so, tried to show a friend one of the videos of this thing moving and they're gone, vanished, disappeared into the wide web of the world. would you be so kind as to posting another of it moving? you could be going 10 miles an hour, 10 meters an hour is fine too, as long as I can hear that Italian goodness.

this is truly a work of art, you should be super jazzed.

Thnaks chuckie! Not too worry. 3.6 LSD, Watts link, Fully adjustable rear sway bar, rubber bushings and top of the line RSRacing coilovers to keep her in line back there!! Well...as much as possible!!

Thanks softg! Yeah, I know I've been loafing on creating more vids. It's just that I've been so busy trying to get through all the various build stages. Along the way there have been many changes and I rather put out a vid with the styling that I feel 100% on or pretty close to. That's the reason I deleted the past vids - I know I can do better.

However, I will shoot a vid at the dyno and post that up next month. Until then, enjoy my last visit almost 3 years ago. This is NOTHING compared to what's coming in May!!
