Nice work so far man, I like where this is going especially with the plan for wider arches. I have a friend that has owned multiple GT's. Opelgtsource is where he got a lot of his parts for his builds. Good site.

    Some more inspiration.

        Thx.

This is somewhat what im aiming for but a little more race and a little less "rallycar". A lower stance beeing one of my goals.

Nice work Andtho, but that car screams out for som deep dish oldshool 13" wheels, they can set it off too, amazing how low these cars can go

              Update.

Spent most of the day at my workshop.

Sorry about the image quality, I forgot my camera and had to use my Phone.

Grinded down the welds on the left front fender from last time and finished fabricating the last pieces of the fender.

Had som clearence issues with the door so I had to change a few things to get the door to close correctly. (this part of the fender was so rusted that I didnt have anything to base my fabrication on.)

The fender and door on one side on the car. Only some welding left to finish the other side.

i borrowed a coilover from a friend of mine to check if its possible to fit coilovers to the car without having to make big canges to the factory mounting points.

It is a K-Sport coilover made for the E30 BMW.

It actually looks like its possible to use these coilovers on the car, i only have to change the top-mount front and rear and this puppies should fit. There are some clearance issues in the front, but nothing to major.

front shock, disc brakes from the rallye are going to be fitted when i recieve my Poly bushings from Opel GT source (located in the states)

              And the rear shocks

My girlfriend finished stripping the paint of the bonnet and sprayed it with some primer.

Any progress? Got a Kadett B (soon 3 :P) myself, fun to see what others are doing with them.. What rear axle are you going to use? I think Volvo 140-series rear axles are just about narrow enough to use, 240 series are popular too, but a little wider than the standard Kadett axle i think. 2cm or something like that, not too much

Not much has happened, hope to get something done tomorrow though.

I think I will use the 1.9 rallye rear axle to start with. Ive got one available, i just have to go pick it up.

Later if needed i was planning on using a 240 axle, using the wider fenders the extra width wouldnt bother me to much i think. I will have to use spacers or realy wide tires to fill them out either way.

Finally something has happened, I haven't been out in the workshop for some time.

                    Forgot the camera though.

The car is now put together again and on its wheels, finished welding the last of the rust damage on the left front fender.

The Car will now be stripped of the old paint and sanded to be ready for paint.

I also got my hands on an Autometer Oiltemp meter and a oilcooler, pictures in next update.

Finally I have managed to spend a whole day at the workshop.

One of the other guys at the garage have manufactured a new fueltank for his car, giving me his old one.

Its an alluminium tank with a built in fuelpump. Fits perfectly in the trunk.

I got a tip from a friend on how to lower the car in the front, this not being easy with the leafspring setup.

I made a mockup bracket and bolted it on. It actually worked fine, but the car should go even lower. I will make better brackets later when i figure out the correct riding height. The car is not lowered in the back in the pictures.

I was quite pleased with the result, the car will have a mean look when i get it to the right stance.

I also started grinding down the car, making it ready for paint. I finished the left rear panel. Didnt uncover to much bondo or rust, so thats something.

Sprayed it with primer to prevent rust.

Did also bolt on the mirrors I intend to use, just to see how it looked. Im not a big fan of the "looks like carbon but its not" look, so these are going to be painted matt black along with the chrome details on the car.

I realize i forgot to post pictures of the oilcooler and the autometer gauge, this will be posted shortly.

                          Found this picture

Kinda liked the red, but I usually change the decision about the color when the car is in the paintbooth. So its still an unanswered question.

Only thing I have decided is to keep the color in the spirit of the car and the era, no fancy metallic paints.

Im not keeping the racing stripes, I wont a clean and low look.

I kinda like the original rallye stripes

But this is not a org rallye, Im not a big fan of making the car look like something its not.
