i really like what you're doing with this, and you clearly know quality parts and do quality work, but you lost it for me with your claim that the motor will take 1khp. maybe if it was sleeved, but even then that's pretty much drag-spec and would need rebuilding every five minutes. im not ****** on this, but you really have no need to talk this up, as this build is epic enough without claims like that.sigpic

I dont think i specifically singled out the motor as being able to handle 1K hp....but what I meant was my drive train, specifically the axles, drive shaft and clutch.Originally posted by 340i View Posti really like what you're doing with this, and you clearly know quality parts and do quality work, but you lost it for me with your claim that the motor will take 1khp. maybe if it was sleeved, but even then that's pretty much drag-spec and would need rebuilding every five minutes. im not ****** on this, but you really have no need to talk this up, as this build is epic enough without claims like that.
this where i come off as an asshole and say you assumed i said the engine is built to handle 1K hp....never did i mention it. But what i said is true, i've torn apart and upgraded every little bit to be Group N (rally spec) or even better on this car not one single suspension, drivetrain or bushing piece has not been touched. I dropped the entire rear subframe for christs sakes just to put in two bushings.Ill make sure to update and no speculation on power but im making sure everything is built to handle 1K HP.
But also what you said about having to sleeve a motor to reach 1K hp is a common misconception. The biggest issue with the EJ25 is oiling, more specifically oiling in the number 3 and 4 journals where you see most of the failures. I've put in a forged crank with extra oiling ports and im running an accusump to ensure that there is no significant loss of oil pressure. If I do plan on going over 600Hp with this car then i will more than likely tear off the oil pan and put in a dry sump system just like the porsches who i've seen 996 and turbos well past the 1K mark.
Anyway I wasn't claiming anything, i really haven't claimed a specific HP number for this build, I have a goal in mind and im going to try to reach it, if i don't with this first turbo then sure enough after break in ill be building a new borg warner to go in there.

fair enough man, thats just how i interpreted it, that by 'everything is built to handle 1khp' that that included the engine. i get what you mean now. the internet is full of big talkers and im glad you're actually someone who knows their stuff.
on the accusump, ive heard mixed things with those, as they only cover you for very short periods of oil starvation, it all comes down to how you're going to be driving it. i seen your sump is enlarged too anyway, so dont imagine you'll have any issues under even the hardest driving.
keep it up, i look forward to seeing how this turns outsigpic
