For 4 lips and hex nuts, one tube should suffice. Note that this isn't a polisher at ALL. Many people have had mixed reviews because they cannot walk and breathe at the same time, and think that Zoop Seal will make the lips look better. Polish up the lips as smooth as possible, all this does is apply a coat of protection, so get them to look exactly how you want them before you apply it. This will not damage or fade your polish job at all, and it's a very good product, but can be hard to use, as you need to apply it in thin coats in one direction.

I've used Klean Strip, Jasco, they work ok, although I've recently found a product that is beyond amazing. It's called Dumond Smart Strip by Peel Away. It's non toxic, environmentally friendly, yada yada yada, what I care about is that it WORKS. I bought a giant tub of it at Home Depot last year for $70, they didn't have smaller sizes at the time, they do now. It's a white foamy cream, like a mix between a mousse and a yogurt, and they say to apply 1/8" thick coats, but I've stripped 3 layers of automotive paint with thinner coats. You apply this stuff with a disposable $0.50 brush, and leave it overnight. Come back to a white flaky wheel and the paint/remover flakes off in a single wipe with a paper towel from my kitchen. Really marvelous stuff, I'm done with floor strippers, paint strippers, aircraft paint strippers, this shit WORKS, and is available down the street from me.

Good luck on the build. One more thing I should note is if you need 132 bolts, please order 135 so you're not that guy on the forum asking for one single very specific type of lanza spike bolt.

So leaving the stripper on over night will remove to bare metal and then I can put my fapping arm to work polishing them so I can see my ugly mug?

I saw that Wurth paint and thought it looked really good. This was only thought of because I cannot find the BMW BBS gold paint code. So if I cannot locate it I am going to use the STi gold(looks great too) And I am going to powder coat.

And the bolts are still a toss up, only big thing I was wondering is torquing the new bolts with the old ones. Since the new ones are to 44lbs and the olds ones are around 14lbs I was wondering if it would be an even tight clamp?

My thoughts were if going the spikes I would lay out the pattern with them ONLY and take them to the 44lbs THEN add the olds ones. Reason behind that would be the new bolts would clamp MUCH more instead of the old ones not clamping enough thus getting loose when the new ones are added.

And I only need 68 spike bolts. 34 bolts to a rim so I only need 17 spikes and 17 OEM to get the look I am shooting for. I am thinking gold spike bolts and polished BBS OEM to match the lips.

Thanks guys, I am trying to get this build along but funds are tight because of the winter(contractor) I will go get that stripper and get to polishing as fast as I can.
I am going to start media blasting the faces and covers once it gets warm out. So that is around the bend too!

Yes leave on overnight and it will come right off to bare metal. If not then do one more coat and everything should come off.

So is that a yes to the Wurth spraypaint? I've used it, and it's ok, but you can tell it's not a professional job.

Also about the torquing, I've never used torqued new bolt + old nut to over 14 ft-lbs. This is what I was referring to in my first post. I assumed you were using new bolts all around, even the non-spiked. I wouldn't torque any old hardware passed that. And trust me when I say this... pay the money for new bolts. Stripping and polishing old bolts is a HUGE pain in the ass. HUGE. And this comes from someone who enjoys polishing lips. The $70-80 you'll pay for 68 new chrome bolts will be WELL worth the 10+ hours you'll spend wanting to take your own life.

I also advise against powdercoat, since you may want to change color eventually, and getting thick powdercoat off a wheel like an RS is an ordeal. In my book the RS is a paint only wheel. I've also seen centre waffle surrounds not fit properly because of how thick powdercoatting gets.

I gave that a lot of thought and the new bolts will put my mind to rest. I saw a few sets of RS' done up on VWvortex in that Wurth spray paint, they came out REALLY clean. You just have to put down more than two coats. And I am trying to get the Wurth paint code. My Uncle owns a body shop, he is painting my rims and car. So the PCing was just if all else fails.

I don't know the paint code but most matches suck and authentic BBS Gold is available in Germany. I have a few cans, it's a white can with grey lettering, says BBS Gold Felgenlack. Good luck.

Well over the winter I refinished the lips and now I need to polish them to a mirror finish.

There is no damage to them so I am wondering what grade to start at and to finish off with? Also one 1.5 lip has SLIGHT curb rash, only on the outer section that has no function. Should I get it welded then shape back to the rest?

                    Quick questions:

                    1. Grade of paper to polish lips
                    2. Adapter fitment/STANCE!!! (I am that close)

                    16x7 .5 lips ET45

I then swapped them out for 1.5" front lips and 2" rear lips making them 16x8 Front and 16x8.5 rear correct?

I am putting them on a BMW e30, I would LOVE to have some help with the math to get these to clear the housings. I talked with my friend Stephen(on here, same user name) We tossed around 20mm rear and 25mm front. What is the thoughts fellas?

P.S. No pics yet, only a Macbook and that would not do them justice.

                      The new wheels are:
                      16x8 et33
                      16x8.5 et26

With 2" lips in the rear I'd say you can add 25mm adapters all around. By pushing the wheels out exactly an inch, it would have the same stance as if you were running 2.5" lips in the front, 3" lips in the rear.

As for sanding, I usually start off with 320, but if your lips are in perfect shape, start off with a finer grit.

Are you sub'd to my build or something? haha

So the 25mm at all 4 will make a wider rear to give a meaner stance. Main thing I am worried about is them clearing the housings. Do you have an idea of the stance? google might have a picture that could show what is in your head

I really don't care about the fenders, I am building the car around the wheels(how it should be).

                          Look HERE

The black coupe with RSs has 16x9s all around, et13, the black vert has 16x9 et20, they both clear fine. You should have a bit more clearance in the front because you have 8.5" wheels.

So the 25mm at all 4 looks to be a very nice stance. Thanks for the help, now time to place an order for the custom adapters and get it done!

i dont get it, why are you building custom rims AND running spacers? if the wheels fit on without spacers, wouldnt it be way cheaper (and better result) to just have wider lips?

They are 16" RSs going on an e30. He needs adapters to 4x100.
