  • BBS RS build

Hello, I thought I would use my first post to something awesome. I am building a set of RS' for my E30. Stock was 16x7 5x114 sleeved to 112 ET45.

I have been talking to Mystikal and another friend for doing this the proper way. I joined because in sigs people have "StanceWorks" next to their sexy ass stance cars. So I thought it would be wise and see what is happening here!

I bought 1.5 lips for the front and 2" lips for the rear. I am planning on 25mmFront 20mm rear adapters. For something around ET-33F ET-27R

I broke them down and now awaiting for christmas to pass so I can spend more money on them! My plans are BBS gold waffles and caps with polished lips. I was thinking chrome spike bolts every other one.

I am looking for any input that would save me from fucking up. I would love advise and to throw ideas around.

Blocks I cut to mock the adapter and lips. I made a 45mm(1.5"lip) 57mm(2"lip) and 70mm(2.5"lip) But the 1.5 was too much to roll, so I got 1" and the 2" was a perfect fit with a roll.

Sorry, I did not like the size that I upload them to. So I removed and added them in a larger format. It was 5:30am and was not thinking, forgetting that they are removed once you remove the hosting

Well I am a bit along now! I have 2" rear lips and 1.5" front lips. I am now trying to figure out a size to get the adapters in to get the right stance! I was talking with my friend (stephen's e30) and he said 25mm in the front and 20mm in the rear. Bring it to something like ET33F 27R. What do you guys think?

            Recap:

BMW E30: I am building the car around the rims =)
So I will roll and pull as much as needed.

Start off: 16x7 ET45 1/2" stock BBS lips

            Build: 16x8F(1.5"lip)ET33 16x8.5R(2"lip)ET27

Just wondering what you guys think?

I can afford every spike bolt, I think it looks dumb with all of them in each hole.

I've refinished more RSs than I've taken shits... some tips for you:

-Don't paint inside the bolt holes on the outer edge of the face, the bolts will not fit through.
-Powdercoat is a bigger bitch than Kyle's mom on RSs, I would use paint.
-Use plastic wrap on the inside of your sockets when dealing with new bolts.
-Keep the centre hex cap the same color as the lips, which in 99% of cases should be polished.
-Zoop Seal is worth its weight in gold, learn to use it.
-If you reuse the old nuts instead of buying new, only re-torque them to 14 ft-lbs.

Some of this is redundant, but if it's you're first time it's easy to overlook small things. Also about the lanza bolts, don't do it. Either every other one, or all of them, the look gets old very quickly, my $0.02.

                            Thanks for the chiming in!

I was thinking about using wurth BBS gold paint and I am taping the bolt edge off till the inside ring. Not my first time painting thank god =)

I am glad you mentioned the last two bits, I was wondering about reusing the old bolts and what seal is best. I will get a tube, how many is needed? And I am sure I will do the every other spike bolt idea that I had from the get go.

I am going for a classic BBS look with a bit of flare I want, I know many people dislike those bolts and even more so every other one. But I LOVE that look so much, I will not get bored of it one bit.

One question I have yet answered, what brand air craft stripper is best? And these are OEM BBS lips, so I do need to strip them of the clear and base to polish correct?
