you dug pretty deep to find this one!
I've been working overseas and I do plan to continue on the build when I return home, but it may not be until after the first of the year

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I have been on a business trip since last Thursday and not sure when I will return. Still need to find my floorboard lol...
Thanks for the ideas, its stuff like this that helps develop my car further and inspire me!Originally posted by 340i View Postquestion/idea: why not just cut the whole a-pillar bit off the doors? then just not bother with side windows and make it a sunny-day only car? i was going to suggest also welding up the doors and shaving the handles too, but if you're going to be running a cage it might be a bit tricky getting in and out? (unless you're good at the 'dukes of hazzard' move... haha)
only other suggestion would be to weld sheetmetal plates to the unibody before welding tube to it, to spread the load where they join.
great build so far!
The A-pillar will probably happen...
I'm already planning on ditching the side windows, but may go with plastic soft side windows a-la early Viper & various British roadsters.
Like you say, probably will be difficult getting in and out with the cage. I do plan to do plates for the cage... but I'm having difficulty getting to that point ugh
ALSO:
I have been brainstorming a new theme... since the end is so far off lol.
Still planning on leaving the patina finish, and I think it would go well with something inspired from this...
