So I said I’d have some news for you dudes, so here it is: I finally saved enough to pay for the 2JZ engine swap I’ve wanted since the 7MGTE died last year. I’m putting in an Aristo 2JZGTE non-vvti.
It took a long time and a lot of t-shirts and stickers but I saved up enough to do the swap.
Even the guy at the depot was into it:
The guy loaded it onto the truck and I took it back to meet the corpse it'll hopefully resurrect.
Senza Parai agreed to build both the intake and exhaust manifold which meant I needed to get measurements for the cylinder’s intake and exhaust ports.
I also swapped out the oem FPR for my AEM unit but I think I'll make a bracket for it instead of hanging it off the back of the intake:
The next step was to get the parts to mate the 2JZ into the A70 body and R154.
The JDM and USDM versions have some differences like smaller injectors (440 verses 550) and turbo construction (ceramic verses steel). BPU is fine for now but I already have a set of low impedance RC PL8-550 (Peak and hold) injectors that I can carry over from the 7M if i get a top-feed fuel rail and a resistor pack.
That's all future plans though.
For now, I just want to get this thing moving so I can slap the wheels on it and get back to collecting tickets.
