Custom modified mk3 VR6 spindles, with custom machined R32 hubs, VR6 wheel bearings, machined strut brackets to accept mk1 coilovers.

The front suspension spindle bolted up and modified vr6 ball joints we mocked up the spindle and suspension

on to the rear. once everything on the rabbit was gutted the rabbit structurally is very weak. we've gone through the entire car and welded 1 inch square tubing like we did here in the picture below to strengthen the rear end now that it has double the weight added

then boxed in with 12 gauge steel

since the r32 is wider overall and we wanted to utilize the OEM rear floor pan to flow with the rest of the body we had to section the floor into 3 pieces shorten it and weld them back together. much like doing a chop top.

Doug wrapping up the rear floor, welding and grinding down to make it look like 1 seamless floor pan

shot of the rear wheel tucking

Thanks to Black forest industries for providing these beautiful complete performance engine mount replacements

                BFI ENGINE MOUNTS

transmission mount was machined and modified because BFI does not offer a transmission complete mount replacement at this time

how the engine sits now completely bolted in

finally after 2 months we have an Mk1 R32 AWD rolling chassis

                              updates
complete underbody shot of the rear subframe \differential bolted up in its home

closer shot of subframe\differential bolted up in its home

                              passenger shot of the suspension

drivers side trailing arm mount and bolted in place

                              removable trailing arm like oem

factory floor in place the rear spring seat\mounting cup is retained and utilized

shot of where the rear shocks will mount. Like the r32 it mounts at the bottom of the spindle and at an angle bolts to the bottom of the floor. this will be done same way as well on rabbit. Arrows point at the mounting pointa

the rear floor pan 75% complete here is an under body shot of the complete rear differential and sub frame
Transition where the floor pan and rear differential pan hump meets we welded 2 parallel square tubing braces. We left the pockets on both sides of the drive shaft open. One for an full size battery and other will be a storage pocket for whatever the customer decides to put in it.

the pockets will go on this opening
