The rust on the front has been cut out now, and a few more holes welded up in the bay. Just need to make a template for the rusty bit, then cut some sheet and weld it in.

As soon as all the welding is done i will finally, take back all the rest of the paint, up to the windscreen. But as i cant be arsed to go in the garage while its cold i will be cracking on with it around jan/feb time.

So no updates for a while.

    but i am buying these.

Poly top mounts. Lowers extra 10mm and has slight camber/castor adjustment. 0.5deg

Plus hard to find. Rear polybush top mounts

    And poly engine/box mounts

    All for around £200.

So merry xmas and happy new year to all reading this. And look out for updates next year!

    welding updates

right been a while but i have a couple updates.

been making templates and cutting sheet out today to start welding up all the holes in the engine bay. Not going for completely smooth (plated legs and stuff like that), but dont want any unessacery holes or studs in there. Heater has gone, and fuse box will be moved in side the car so that hole went aswell.

    heres some pics.

    slam panel

and the only bit of rust on the whole front end

No pictures as useual, but the bay in now completely empty, steering rack, brake lines, heater and loom all out the way.
Going to start on taking the paint and underseal off everything in front of the front screen. Also need to remove the rain tray, and weld up a few holes around the place.

    Front end is stripped

Well yesterday and today i finally managed to get both front struts, subframe and engine/box out. So the bay is nearly clear to start work.

Subframe has took a few beatings since being on the car, and it shows on the two lower parts. Nearly rubbed through on one side.

Also got a photo of the old and new shocks together.

Old ones are being sold on to a friend how has a polo classic, which is just a booted version of my car.

Not gonna work on it tomorrow so i will update over saturday/sunday.
