Okay folks, here's another update for those who care.
a pic of the engine at 303500Km

Then my luck kicked back in...

A VW LT just hit me when I wanted to pass a green traffic light...it wasn't my fault, so my surveyor had some work again and got quite some money for me from the opponents insurance

The last two weeks I had vacation, spending most of my time to get the car ready for the next season, starting on Carfriday (Good Friday).
With the money from the accident, I was able to get my whole front repainted (it had a very rushed, bad garage paintjob since the first accidents for a couple of good reasons ).
While I worked on the front I had some spare parts mounted

Then I finally got the parts from my paintshop back.
Bad news first, they did a sucky job, especially on the hood.
Good news is that it still looks quite okay as long as you don't look too close. of course I'll get it redone at some point, but it's okay for now.

First thing I did when I had everything back in place:

And that's how it looks so far:

A little different version of the pic above and a shot from yesterday night

    @ Mad Max
If I would add some bumpstops for the TÜV, it would be legal, I know someone who doesn't care about how much space to the ground is left, he just doesn't want to see any tires rubbing.
Got to rise the front 2,5cm and it would be legal again.

    @ Topic

My car's currently in Wintermode, but I couldn't help it and hat to drop it as much as I could after I changed the old 205/50R15 tires to the current 195/50R15 winter tires...

If it ain't rubbin, you ain't dubbin!

    Wintermode:
    • 15x6,5J VW Speedline rims, Purewhite varnished
    • 195/50R15 Barum Polaris 2 (cheap & eager)
    • 15mm Spacers FA/RA
    • CL-Frontlip (Much better for moving snow)

....still need to drop it 0,5-1cm till I'm happy though

As long as I can fix it, I won't sell it.

    @ P78
It's an aftermarket lip from Rotev or Retov or something like that... they're better than the Jom ones you can buy. The Rotev are pretty tough, though they can't flex too much, that's why I broke the new lip at the parking garage already.
Using a used original lip now until I switch to my winter-cl-lip. Next year it'll be cable-ties-time for the broken Retov lip

I considered white wheels, but I rather went with the red/black theme, though my winter wheels will be white

    @ Riddler
Well, no different color for them, they may be hiding a little, but it just fits the car's theme.

    @ Gangstagolf & dfreshx00
Thanks! Sure won't stop now and I still want to drop it 0.5inches

    @ Topic
I'm currently taking apart the POS 16V and just got the engine out yesterday

The engine won't go in until the end of next year. Until then it'll get all new gaskets, paint and all the other things that come up and need to get fixed next to the standard stuff I always renew on a new engine (Timing belt, other belts, spark plugs, spark plug leads, etcetc.)

And I already found a good metalplate for the oilpan:

It's from a Bosch engine tester that's been built in the 1970s, it was as huge as a workbench and heavy as fuck.
The plates I got once were the cover and bottom of the actual tester... and they're so big that you could enclose the whole engine bayfrom underneath with one lol

Long story short... gonna cut a piece out of that plate, bent the edges upwards and weld it under the oilpan so that the engine can slide easyly over any shit on the road.

very nice daily man, good luck with what you want to do with it in the future. i would suggest a different color scheme for those whells as they are too beautiful to hide in black paint.
